Quick question guys, I live in Hong Kong and the phones come unbranded.

Currently in a summer course in CMU in USA. I'm using an AT&T SIM card, and the reps from the store told me that 3G was available in the major cities (NY, San Fran, etc) but I wasnt able to get any 3G signal on my phone.

Is it because US uses some other 3G standard?

Ok my K610 won't boot or charge last week because i removed the battery before it had fully shut down. So i sent it to a SE authorized service center and was glad when i got it back due to the new firmware R1JG001 and Java 7.3. Apart from the improvements mentioned before like the faster UI, video play in thumbnail view, icons in mms editor, new animated characters, etc. i'm very happy about the multi-character search for Java games & apps. It's so easy now, it's just like searching for a phonebook name Also, under Settings > Display > Wallpaper, there is an option for "Application". Do you guys know of any Java app so far that has a wallpaper function, besides MobyToday? Thanks

You are right.
K610i uses the main 3G frequency 2100 MHz, but in USA it's 850 and 1900 MHz for 3G.

It's good to know that soon will be available K850i: it can work in all those three 3G frequencies + GSM 850/900/1800/1900.

Have anyone of you guys tried using the HPM80 (handsfree device of W900i w/c has a built-in FM receiver) with the K610i? If yes, did it work fine?

hi guys,
i noticed when i got my k610 back frm the se service centre, it no longer has the blueish icon(3g) beside the network indicator even tho im in a 3g zone(placed the phone side by side to a w850 n the icon appears on his phone but not mine).

i've already checked that its on GSM and 3G
im on R1KG001
already tried to remove batt and sim and reinserting them

could this be a software/hardware issue?
how can i check if the 3g function works?

on another note.. i noticed my friends w810 has this tiny 'G' on top of his network indicator. whats that?

That is definitely a software problem, considering the things that you've mentioned. I suggest you bring it back to the service center and have it's firmware reflashed. Make sure you have at least 5MB free on your Phone Memory.
