In my W800 "R1BC002 new settings appeared, to make my phone be upgraded over the air in the future.

I did a small research and i found a supplier company www.redbend.com
and their presentation how "Fota" works i have uploadet here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/xkv9wo

Good is that "Fota" replace only some parts of the firmware and not the whole one.Thats mean smaller data consumption.

If you don´t have this settings profile in your phone use this one:

MENU=>SETTINGS=>CONNECTIVITY=>DEVICE MGMT=>NEW ACCOUNT

SERVER ADRESS: https://prod.dm.sonyericsson.com/fota/sync

USERNAME: void

PASSWORD: void

SERVER ID: void

SERVER PASSWORD: void

CONNECTION: Your data (not wap) account

REMOTE INITIATION: Always ask

although there is nothing on the W800 support page the W810 support page has stuff about this including:

What's the Sony Ericsson Remote Update Service, and why should I use it?

The Sony Ericsson Remote Update Service is a convenient way to easily and remotely update your mobile phone to the latest available software version. This is done over the air; no connection to a PC is needed.

The cost for using Sony Ericsson Remote Update Service is your operator's fee for transferring the data to your phone. This varies widely between different operators; if you are uncertain you should contact your operator. The size of the download is about 1.5 – 3 MB. The size of the download is shown in your phone before the download starts.

User content in the phone, such as images, music, ringtones and videos, is not affected by the update.

This service is provided because your phone is an advanced piece of electronics, comparable with a computer, and the latest software allows it to operate in best way possible.

To be able to perform a software update your phone must have:
A fully charged battery
Internet settings (WAP)
To check whether there is a newer software version for your phone:
Go to Main Menu > Settings > General > Update service and press "Select".
Choose Search for update and press "Select".
The phone starts searching for software updates.
Note: The message "Your phone already has the latest software" is displayed if there is no newer version to be downloaded.
If new software is available, you will be asked whether you wish to download the update; if so, press "Yes".
The download of the new software version now starts.
When the download is finished the phone will automatically restart.
Now your phone has been updated with the latest software.

there is also an animation which you will have to go to that page to see.

You'll be charged for the GPRS usage - amount of data downloaded, so if the update's 3Mb and your operator chargers £3 per megabyte for example, it will cost you £9 in data charges.

I don't think the K750i supports this, it's new phones from the W550i onwards that do

I would be interested to know if anyone has got this to work. I understand that device management *is* there for over the air firmware updates, but trying this on a K750 (R1BC) or W800 (R1N035) results in failure.

Has anyone managed to succeed with thse settings on any SE phone?

I tried on my K750, it connected, said processing 6, then failed with incorrect user or pass. Tried void and leaving it blank.

I just tried this on my W810i and it connected alright. I got a message saying my software was up to date.
For the settings, I put in the server address and left the rest blank except server ID, where I typed in void.
