anyone any ideas how to stop this.

Maybe you could tweak your Gmail settings. Advanced, may be.

i have gone through all the advanced settings but i think that none apply to this problem.

Sorry about that guys False alarm. Turns out the automatic GPRS settings that you can get sent to your phone from SE.com aren't the best if you're on Vodafone in NZ like me

I went to vodafone.co.nz and got the right GPRS settings and it works fine now Can send and receive! Wo0t!!

Although it is a bit slow... Is it supposed to be quite slow? Maybe around 40 sec to connect to server and receive mail and around 50 sec to send?

Cheers for the awesome tut guys!

Just make sure if you're in NZ like me, go with vodafone.co.nz's GPRS setup

I still can't connect after setting everything correctly and installing all 3 certificates. I get a server not found error when sending an email.
I can download emails using POP3 to my PC with the same settings though.
I've also updated the firmware to R1KG001.

Hi People,

First post, found these forums last week while looking for info on my new phone, they're pretty good

I have gmail working on k810i, (used the settings here )
but I'm having one problem, my phone only has the oldest 300 messages in my account viewable. I can "view older" messages, but none newer.

I have 1100 messages in my account....theres no need to delete them due to the size of the account

But how do I get it to only display newest items??

Ah just found the answer to my own question....
In my settings in my gmail account I needed to set my POP setting to -newest mail only, I had it on -all mail.

Try the setting below, it worked on my K800i.

Connect: GPRS
Email address: username@gmail.com
Protocol: Pop3
Incoming server: pop.gmail.com
Username: username@gmail.com
Password: *****
Outgoing server: smtp.gmail.com

Now go to Advanced setting:
Encrytiption - Incoming: SSL
- Outgoing: TLs
Outgoing username: username@gmail.com
Outgoing password: *****
Incoming Port: 995
Outgoing port: 25 or 465 (mine works on 25)

Good luck. I have the TMO USA T-Mobile Web.
