This setting below works 100 % fine to (send and receive) email's on my K800i

Step 1: Enabling IMAP4

Log into Gmail and enable IMAP4 for your account. Click on ‘settings’ in the top right hand corner and click on the ‘Forwarding and IMAP4’ tab.

Step 2: Download and install Security Certificate

You need to download and install 2 certificates.

1.Equifax_Secure_Certificate_Authority.cer and 2.ThawtePremiumServerCA.cer,

http://www.badongo.com/file/11464943

http://www.FreeUploadShare.com/DOWNLOAD/ad168601/certificates.zip

To install the certificates either send them to the phone using Bluetooth or by USB. Follow the on screen phone instructions.

Step 3:Setting on the Mobile

This is my gmail setting on my K800i:

Navigate to Messaging>Email>Settings>

Create a new account

(If you have already created an account, then just edit that account and the enter the following settings)

Account Name: Gmail

Email Alert: (What ever you want to assign)

Connect Using : (Your Dataline Connection)

Email Address : youremail@gmail.com

Connection Type:IMAP4

Imcomming Server: imap.gmail.com

User Name:youremail@gmail.com

Password: ******** (ur password)

Outgoing Server:smtp.gmail.com

Advance Settings:

Your Name: yourname

Signature : ---------

Download S&R : Subjects Only

Check interval : Off

Push Email: On

Allow Connection : Home Network

Copy Outgoing : Off

Encryption TLS/SSL

Outgoing Username: youremail@gmail.com

Outgoing Password: ******** (ur password)

Incomming Port: 993

Outgoing Port: 587

If you are not sucessfull in setting up the Gmail on ur SE mobile u have 2 more alternatives: (this is the easiest way to Gmail)

1.You can always use your mobile web browser to log in to www.gmail dot com and acess your gmail.... or

2.You can download the Gmail Java client using your mobile from http://gmail.com/app.

But if you configure your mobile to receive email manually, you can send attachments from your mobile(ie: pictures,mp3 and so on),

And if you use the Java Client or Directly logging in to your mobile using your phones web browser you cannot send attachments from your mobile, you can only read and reply.

Same issue here. I can receive e-mails but have tried unsuccessfully to send e-mails. It just won't go. I will try @muzammil's steps but most of them have been done already.. Will update later...

I am using K770i and am in India on Vodafone.
I have downloaded the settings for Gmail from Sony site(they were sent to my mobile with my password and all that).
The settings they sent had pop3 server as active so I changed that to imap4 and rest of the settings as have been explained above.
My problem is that I cannot even receive emails leave alone send any... the phone displays "connecting to server" for a long while and then it is "server not found".
BTW, I tried the original settings sent to me as well but they were not working either... any suggestions???
Thanks

I did the same thing as you to my w960i.
I can receive but cannot send emails.

I found the problem and it lies with the settings SE sent.
The outgoing settings that they sent me was incorrect.

For my phone, under Messaging > Gmail > Settings > Email accounts > Gmail.

At the outbox tab, the outgoing server address, Instead of 'smtp.googlemail.com', they sent me 'smpt.googlemail.com'.

So I edited the address accordingly, checked the 'use smtp authentication' box, checked the 'use inbox login details' box and save the settings.

And I successfully sent a test mail to my hotmail.

Hi Friends,

I have Sony Ericsson K810i Cyber-shot phone. I have configured GMail IMAP4 account. The problem is that i can download e mails but when i try to send or reply then i get " SENDING SERVER NOT FOUND " error.

First i changed Outgoing Server Encryption from TLS to SSL. Then changed port address. SMTP server on port 465 (with SSL) and port 587 (with TLS), but still having trouble sending mail. Then i configure SMTP to use port 25 (with SSL).

Still having Problems. Please help.

I kinda have the same problem with my Sony Ericsson P1i when fetching my Gmail, the exact same error message appears. This only happens when I try to connect thru GPRS/3G, but there seems to be no problem when I connect thru WLAN. I didn't change any settings in my phone's email set up, it only depends on the connection type. I wana make it work with GPRS/3G connection since WLAN is not available all the time. Any suggestions so far? Thanks!
