Get external antenna for Bluetooth - I guess Toshiba has one for up to 50 metres ...
I have personally seen two notebooks sending data at distance of almost 30 metres with standard Nokia BT cards (DTL-4 prototypes). This depends much on the interference.

I used Socket Bluetooth CF Card (mainly for my iPAQ) with my Win-XP laptop (you need CF->PCMCIA Adaptor to do that). The card comes with Windows Driver and Software from DigiAnswer.

Socket BT Card and DigiAnswer BT Software Suite support OBEX Object Push so I can use it for sending background image and ringtone to T68, simply by drag and drop the files (.gif or .emy .imy) to the t68 icon in BT neighberhood.

I was just reading about Bluetooth Profiles when two particular profiles piqued my interest.

Quote:K3: Cordless Telephony Profile

Defines how Bluetooth can be used as wireless phone. Also describes how a Bluetooth-adapted cellular phone should switch to Bluetooth wireless phone-function when it comes within reach of a Bluetooth base station.

K4: Intercom Profile

This profile connects with K3. It defines how two Bluetooth- equipped cellular phones in the same network should be able to communicate directly with each other, without using the public telephone network. This function enables for instance interconnecting phones within an office.

what do you think of those two? very interesting e?

when do you think would mobile phone manufacturers put them in their phones?

Just a quickie: can manufacturers add support to other profiles by upgrading or flashing the device firmware?

@gowin, the limitation is the chipset. if the chipset supports it, then it's just a matter of software 'exposing' the capability just like what anycom did.

I know there are lots of bluetooth adaptors for printers and HP Deskjet 995 has it built in etc. but is it or will it ever be possible for a PC to host a printer and provide the bluetooth printing profile throught a usb or pcmcia adaptor?

It seem like this is the best way to go, as it requires the least additional expenditure for those who already have adequate printers.

I got the Tecom usb adaptor this morning and have a T68i, connecting them goes fine, but I think being able to use the print feature straight from the phone would be a nice additional touch
