Hey guys, i currently have a P1i and I'm looking to the X1, but the thing is is that it costs $800 here. I also heard that some goods phones from SE are coming out later in 2009 as this year comes to an end. Do you guys think i should go ahead (my money doesn't come easy though) or wait until it gets cheaper/or new phones come out? I mean like, really, my p1i does almost everything the x1 does. I'd appreciate it if someone could compare the two phones and then give me an opinion because i can't decide for myself

I can see sense in you waiting for the price to drop.
I can't see sense in waiting for better phones because you're in for a long wait (there is always something better coming).
which brings me to the last of your worries. if P1 does everything you want a phone to do and you like it, then no, I cannot see sense in spending 800 USD if they don't come easy to you.

the difference:

thanks for your insight,

the thing is how does it compare when you're using it? like what do you find more appealing about either phone and what do you find lacking? i suppose the typing would be better because of the full qwerty, but what about camera, music, and apps and games because its somewhat hard to find ALOT of good stuff on UIQ.

The entire marketing machine is geared towards to spend money we don't have, to buy things we do not need, to impress people we don't even like.
Hey if the P1 does what you need wait until the price drops.

I don't think going from P1 to X1 is really good idea... Don't know exactly, but I know that the display has less colours. Also the OS and interface is different. The reason imho is the experience of with WM... The X1 is the first WM device so if you are addicted to other phones you may find it a little weird at first try. Anyway P1 is still pretty good these days. It is full of features and should suit your needs no problem.

HI,

I am using a W960i and like many, anxiously waited for X1. Pre-ordered 1 as soon as the opportunity came but when I went to the shop and played with it, I find that the TytnII that I used to own is probably better. Hence, if you find P1 is already serving your daily needs, why throw away another 800 or even 500.

Cheers

IMHO, I dont think X1's price will drop significantly in a short period of time considering its a windows mobile. They have done it with w960, a dead UIQ, maintaining a hefty price tag so they surely can with x1. Yes the money might not come to us easily, but the crave and fad is priceless. If you can buy it now, then why wait. Life is too short after all, and these gadgets are just one of the many ways to celebrate life and that we once live in the era of x1. There wont be x1 in the future.

I sold my w960 half the price and bought x1.
