A very very nice phone... Sleek looks and has all basic features covered to be a mass market hit... SE just needs to do good marketing for this phone and it's just gotta prove that it's camera is worth the cybershot brand and the loudspeaker is no less than the competition... By the way, anywhere pics taken from C510 yet???

I very much think C510 is a K550's successor and thier launch prices are same as well...

That's why I'm sad! I want C510a because of more networks. But I live in Europe, not in America. But I like to travel very much and more networks are really needed! Now americans are placed in better situation, because their c510a is really a world phone!

I really don't understand why to split this phone on that way?! This is the feature I like on that decent phone!

Remember, there was one version of network polyglot phone K850i!

There may be several reasons:

One reason is that CES is in Vegas and a lot of it usually is North American-centric. It may be that SE is going to market the C510 to American/Canadian carriers and not so much to the European carriers, much like all the other phones are marketed the other way around.

Also, it's about cost. A triband GSM/monoband 3G chip is less expensive than a quadband GSM/triband 3G chip. If the above paragraph is incorrect, it may be that SE thought they'd sell more Euro devices than NA devices, and therefore incur less costs by building a less sophisticated device for mass-market, and develop the more expensive version, but manufacturer less because the demand won't be as high in America.

If it bothers you, though, you could wait an extra month or two and buy the C510a unlocked from Amazon or some such place. 'Tis what I would do. Well, it's what I have to do, as I'm in America.

Where is this 5mp FLippa you speak of and how do you know you will even like it? The only (terrible) pics I saw made it look like it would be a fingerprint magnet just like the c902.

Really? That would convert to about PHP 15-18K here in Manila - that's what I paid for a k800i a *year* after it was introduced locally. Comparing the feature sets, it's a very good price indeed.

PHP 15-18k? I think that's too much because sonyericsson told that this is the most affordable cyber-shot to date meaning its price should be lower than k550 when it was released. Also, if you convert 199 euros to PHP it should be 12,779.78k not 15k-18k.

Absolutely gorgeous IMHO. Ironically it's just what we need, another dumb blonde from SE.

K800 - I forgot how terrible sharpness was in original driver, contrast is awful too
C510 - a bit better contrast, sharpness is much better but a bit messy
W715 - camera from T700 (I guess by OmniVision). quite good, maybe too much contrast and colors saturation

as I expected, C510 is only slightly improved K800. not much after 2 years of development, zero progress in sharpening algorithm, it's awful. we are waiting for retail version to judge

actually i've been wondering if this was intentional on sony's part - an effort to keep the cybershot phone line from overlapping with their camera line. The cybershot video ability is lagging terribly behind lg and samsung phones for example. I could never figure why.
