I picked a Nexus S myself last week when I was in the US. It's my first android phone, so I can't really compare it to anything (I had a long line of Ericsson/SonyEricsson phones before, C905 being the last).
I'm really loving it. Best Xmas gift to myself ever!

Well it's more fun more to do & more customizable than iphone. Battery life by the way lasted well through the day yesterday & it had not reached red by midnight so good battery. I had used it alot. I prefer it to the iphone though the iphone's screen is shaper & materials better that's all really. I just found out though yesterday that this Nexus does NOT have a scratch resistant screen Gorilla glass is missing. Why Samsung?? Does anyone know if it's true??

Well,Gingerbread being Pure Google is much much faster smoother with absolutely zero lag at all. It even looks nicer in parts with nice new little touches here & there. It also has the advantage of NOT having the nasty touch wiz interface over Gingerbread which I think caused some lag on the Galaxy. The Nexus camera is a tad better than the Galaxy although the Nexus does have less settings but I do not think it's really focused on the camera(no pun intended there). Also Gingerbread on the Nexus the updates come from Google & not Samsung which makes it better imo cos Samsung are hopeless regarding updates & their software is poor. The Nexus has many many advantages over the Galaxy it is far more future proof.

Yeah it's true, I think they couldn't add the Gorilla glass because of curved display. After use of 5 months, my Galaxy-S was 98% scratch free without any screen protector; so gorilla glass is definitely good thing. Honestly I'm thinking to get the N-S but lack of gorilla glass is only one reason to think twice.
Bonovox, how is the curved display in real life? does it bother or it looks cool?

Hmmm, my Galaxy is 2 month old now and i'm 99% satisfied with it without any modifications. I'm now thinking abt Samsung Nexus..
@adnansanni, Galaxy S screen is not scratch-resistant, but i don't have any visible scratch on it after using it for two months. Now i've put a screen protector on it for better care of it. All is about care. And you could also damage the gorilla glass if you don't care.

personally, i don't have a problem with the lack of gorilla glass. the screens of my C905 and Z710, several years old are both 100% scratch free and my T39 has a small scratch at the bottom of the screen. And that's without using a protection. My 1st gen iPod touch is also scratch free.
I use my old iPod touch sleeve at the moment (one of those Apple socks) to protect my Nexus S and if necessary, I'll invest in a screen protector and/or a case, but so far I don't see why.
I'm amazed with the battery of this thing. I unplugged it yesterday morning at 8. and it was still at 30% 24 hours later and I just plugged it in at 19% some 28 hours after unplugging it. (for some reasons, Google Maps kept the phone awake in the last few hours, although I didn't use it... maybe Latitude?).
