Today is the last day for the web site Symbian.org and its sister sites. Grab the source code while you can.
Esato News

Nokia acquired Symbian in 2008 and established the Symbian Foundation making the operating system open source and royalty free.

This is the official statement from Symbian Foundation:

As a result, our websites will be shutting down at 5pm GMT on 17th December 2010. Between then and 31 March 2011, we intend to make the majority of the content currently accessible through web services (such as the source code, kits, wiki, bug database, reference documentation & Symbian Ideas) available by FTP. Most of this content is available to the public and under the EPL, but a small set of commercial components are still made available for personal use under our EULA. In addition, Symbian^2 code and documentation is still only available for Symbian members

The affected web sites are

Symbian Logo

The reason for the closure is that Symbian Foundation board decided to transition the role of the non-profit organisation. The foundation will become a legal entity responsible for licensing software and other intellectual property, such as the Symbian trademark. Nokia has committed to make the future development of the Symbian platform available to the ecosystem via an alternative direct and open model

Nokia emphasis that the end of the Foundation NOT is the end of Symbian. Symbian is still the first choice of OS for Nokia.
