Yeah its excellent that the Desire will be getting 2.3 Gingerbread when devices like the X10 that came out the same time have lost all manufactuer support.

I've been looking at a few ROMs myself on xda for the DHD like Revolution HD which offers even better all round performance enhancements however won't be long until we get the official update

Don't be too hard on SE regarding the X10's fate
Anyways, it was their first take on Android OS and they haven't promise heaven and earth. At least the new Xperia family's already clad on Gingerbread. And I was really considering on getting either the Neo or Pro.

Why not? if its the first, then it should be supported well, cuz they are the one's supporting SE. Look at HTC, they released the world's first android phone, htc dream in 2008 with android 1.0. And that has 1.6. Which is 3 versions later. What did SE do with x10? Release 1.6 when 2.1 was getting old, and then update to 2.1 .

I would not mind the late update, but with 2.1 as the last update has dissapointed me. I want to buy their new xperia play or arc, but i am affraid of being with se after what they have done.
