But Julias why do you need an app to do EVERYTHING?? Is that Apple's answer an app for everything?? This is Sony's own innovation no apps involved

Flare can not do magic. The iPhone camera will not record in High Dynamic Range. It has a limited dynamic range and record its video within this range. The Flare app modifies the recorded video stream and makes the result look strange. Not like HDR in my opinion.
