So, I got my magnetic charger today. Not sure if anybody noticed before but I posted a link to one that I purchased from a HK retailer through Amazon.com. Final price was $36 shipped from HK to the USA. My concern was that it wouldn't be the official Sony DK31, but it turns out it is. The only thing is that it did NOT come in retail packaging, but for the price, I don't really care.

I wasn't aware that you cannot plug the magnetic charger into a computer USB port and had to look at the user manual online to find that out. Here are some pics for those who are interested. So far, it works great and I really like the smart connect feature to automatically do things when it is docked.

The ONLY thing that's missing is for the screen to stay ON while charging. I'm not sure why that setting isn't in the Z1 as it was on my XS :/ If anyone can figure that out, let me know.

Just ordered my dock today, hopefully it will get here by monday or tuesday. I'd rather use the dock than have to open the usb cover all the time.

@moogoo nice one mate I ordered one from Amazon and got it yesterday it's great I love using the smart connect app with it but your right there's no way that I can see to keep the screen on while my phone docked it would be nice to have the desk clock showing all the time of a night.

Also the case that I have doesn't fit in the dock so I have to keep taking my case off to charge my phone, does anyone know of some compatible cases?

@del - it still doesn't fit if you use the larger adapter made for cases? also, if you turn on developer tools, there is an option to keep the screen on while charging... which is what i did

@moogoo, cheers mate for the tip about the developer options but as for my case no it doesn't fit with the larger adapter and it's a slim case, I've read that some of the krussle cases fit the dock so I may get one of those if I can't mod my case.

Does the dock stay a bit loose? I bought one directly from Sony and I find that the magnet is not really strong enough. Is it generally like this or just mine?

I can pick up the phone in the dock and it is firmly attached, but it does wobble a bit, not a super snug fix, that would be not good as it would be hard to get in and out.

I picked one up from a DK30 Magnetic Charging Dock from the states, retail box and all. It wasnt cheap per say, but its ace to be able to just set it and forget it as they say. The wife told me to order the six dollar ebay one cause it was purple, after reading this post i think maybe i should have

Awesome Are there any little blowbacks? Isn't it a bit loose or something like that?
