Operator introduces 4G on its Pay & Go Go Go plan, as it also announces plans to launch a range of 4G mobile broadband tariffs next month
O2 has launched its first 4G prepay tariff, available in stores and online from today.
Topping up by £15 will see customers immediately receive 75 minutes, 500 texts and 500MB of data. These allowances double if the customer is still on the tariff after three months, who will then receive unlimited texts if they are still on it after six months.
There are three available data bolt-ons available with the tariff: 100MB for £3 (recurring monthly), 500MB for £6 (recurring monthly) and 1GB for £10 (available as one-off or recurring monthly).
O2 has also announced it will be launching a new range of 4G mobile broadband tariffs next month for use on tablets and laptops.
Pricing has yet to be announced, but the tariffs will also be available on 4G dongles, including the Huawei MBB Dongle with mobile Wi-Fi, allowing up to 10 other devices to connect to the 4G network.
O2 general manager of consumer marketing Phil Maple said: “This is a really important time for 4G in the UK. Increasingly our customers are telling us that they want choice and flexibility when choosing a tariff, and that’s why we’ve introduced 4G on Pay & Go. Pay & Go Go Go is the only 4G tariff that gets better over time, and it gives our customers an even more flexible and affordable way of getting their hands on this technology.”
O2 launched its 4G network in the UK on August 29. It now covers more than 15 million people across 11 cities with a number of towns and surrounding areas. It is aiming to cover 14 cities by the end of the year.
