Not really. Just because Sony makes a WP8 device doesn't mean people who don't like it would start liking it

I never liked WP8 and never will and personally I wish Sony didn't bother with WP8.

I really liked WP7.5
I hoped the disadvantages would vanish with WP8 but it didn't.
For daily use it's a nice OS and once when they give me access to do with the files whatever I want. I will try it again.

Pretty much the reason why I myself avoided WP, same reason with IOS.

I share the same opinion with random in that Sony shouldn't have bothered with it.

I'd rather see Sony go ubuntu or another OS. I do understand that Sony is looking for an alternative in case people get tired and bored of Android. But as long as I still see WP with restrictions that I don't like, I wouldn't bother considering in getting a WP smartphone.

What a ridiculous statement !!

More choice has to be better for the consumer, we are already down to only 3 major OS with the demise of BB. I seriously do not like any BB and would never use one but would welcome a resurgence in their fortunes to keep competition alive.

Still if you want to live in a Google dominated world where your privacy is worthless then that's your lookout !!

And don't take it seriously.

Well, Windows Phone is pretty much alive with Microsoft not unlike BB, unless some big company plants a CEO on their's and trick them to using a new OS that would differentiate them with other OEMs without thinking about how it would help them financially and then eventually just buy BB out of misery.

Like Microsoft does not do it.

So basically, if Sony chooses to refrain from helping a perform and ecosystem grow which is potentially a serious competitor to it on a gaming front, possibly a competitor to any other OS Sony might create or try in the future, and the platform which can only allow Microsoft to win now that Nokia is owned by them, it's ridiculous?

Microsoft are a dirty company. Remember the OEMs submitting their windows RT device designs beforehand, which Microsoft used to create their own?

I agree competition is good for the consumer. But that doesn't make sense here. You want Sony to support the competition to complete against itself... Right...

Also remember how Microsoft treated the 7.5 devices upgrade to 8.0? Exactly. 7.8, what's that?

When there are far more viable options, such as Firefox and especially Ubuntu, this IS a seriously stupid move.

Let them die? Let the biggest mobile patent troll die? Yes please.

The ridiculous statement was your comment about me and Google. How did you dream up that idea?

Firstly, Microsoft does the same thing. Secondly, there's more to life than Google, I.e. Ubuntu etc.

Firefox,Ubuntu as OS's? you wish these were relevant but im afraid they're not, nor will be for a long long time on a mobile device

Sony already make Windows based laptops etc so what difference a mobile phone ? Unless you develop your own OS that people actually want to use you unfortunately have to consider other options. That's the position Sony are in. In the EU5 countries WP has a market share of over 10%, that's a lot of users to be ignoring. I appreciate that its struggling in Japan, China and the USA to a certain extent but its still the third biggest OS by users worldwide.
Ive never seen any adverts on my Outlook email that correspond to subjects of my emails, unlike my gmail account (scanning my emails without my permission ) !!

Surely the biggest mobile patent trolls are either Samsung or Apple ?

I really doubt a company as big as Sony are seriously going to consider a Ubuntu or Firefox handset just yet

I was right on my original post, you statements are ridiculous
