I can't give you a number.
At the end day split screen in iOS9 is limited to just 1 device, its no better when not even other iPads or the 6 Plus can have it, while multi window in Android is implemented differently by multiple different manufacturers on multiple different devices, and many vastly different apps support it, I doubt there is anyone who has bothered to count the apps as each day an app gets an update and possibly gets support for multi window.
What I was trying to give you was an idea of the wide spectrum of apps that support it that I have installed in my Note 4. Over a year ago I updated some apps when I was on my S4 and suddenly they were all capable of multiwindow, that includes WhatsApp, CPU-Z, System Panel and PowerAmp, and since then more and more have become supported. To this day, I find a few more of my apps supporting, at this point the majority of my installed apps support it, and trust me using Multiwindow to run HERE Maps and WhatsApp has come in handy MANY times, from finding a friend who was lost in the middle of town to reading poor directions while reading the map. Maybe for you that is all useless, but its been helpful for me. The beauty of it being that you can use multiwindow they way you want, somewhere out there is someone using it in a creative way that you have claimed they wouldn't. It is not all about the 'mid level user'.
I can imagine S Note or OneNote along with e.g. Pinterest or YouTube being used together, by the fairer sex, for ideas from tutorials and/or making lists.

I don't use any music composition apps, hence they are not in my list. are not in my list.

I think comparing against all android manufactures is unfair as only Samsung is supporting split screen at the moment . And as Tsepz said most of the ones that I tried are supporting the split screen (on Samsung - Android M is long before it reached most android handsets so it is a bit irrelevant 6

In terms of using it I use it quite apt on the tablet and in my opinion so will Apple users on iPad .

So got the iOS 9 Public Beta running nicely on my iPad, so far it feels like a final update, very fast and very smooth, Safari is running better than it did in iOS 8, and I am liking the new iOS 9 Font. Got this iPad 4 in late 2012 just after launch, yet here it is running the very latest and most cutting edge iOS like it is new, I am very impressed, but I wish we had got multi view multitasking on the iPads.

I like this new touch with the keyboard, looks a lot like the font used on the Mac hardware keyboards, looks very lively and the Clipboard icon is very handy:

And the new task switcher is nice, but with this being a Beta, it stutters a bit when swiping.

Thanks for sharing tsepz I might give that a go on my iPad mini . Apple does look after its devices better than android manufacturers (I.e. My Samsung note 12.2 is still on 4.4.2)

Indeed, they do Aussie.

I can't really fault this Beta, even the battery life has been great. Took my iPad off charge at 7:30am today, did the update at work, took around 2hours due to a slow ISP, bthen been playing around on it, not to mention it has Google Now running constantly, but it is now midnight and I am still at 42%.

I would like to warn iPhone 5 and 5S owners though especially as apparently this Beta has their phones heating up and going through the battery quickly. They should rather wait for the next update.

Updated to iOS 9 Beta 3 yesterday, my iPad 4 feels incredibly fast and smooth, it is insane how they have managed this on such old hardware. Battery life continues to be epic, took it off charge at 7:30am, Google Now is running, but I haven't used the iPad all day, it's now 15:52, still sitting at 100%. Posting from it now.

This Beta tells that Apple are close to finished with the update, I will be blown away if my iPad gets any smoother and faster.

It's official!

iOS 9 is full of enhancements you’ll appreciate every day. Your apps become more essential. New multitasking features on iPad make you even more productive. Siri can do more than ever, and new proactive suggestions help you get things done before you ask. And improvements at the foundation of the operating system enhance performance, battery life, and security. The more you do with iOS 9, the more you’ll wonder how you ever did without it.

Updated mine and I can't see much difference at the moment . Yes the keyboard is slightly improved and I think the iCloud Drive app is very useful (and long overdue ). Also the apple map is useful now that it has traffics (transport ) information but then there were good apps already doing that . Siri at the moment doesn't seem so smart with the suggestion made problem with it probably being that it is linked to Bing search in spotlight which I don't use . In my android phone the Google now is looking at the Google search which is use either separately or under chrome . Also no news feed - disappointing I read that it is only available in US

Would be nice if u could get the scores for the favourite teams in Siri (automatic scores like with Google now ) but I am not sure how to set this up
