The XZ2 is a massive step up in the camera department for Sony. Makes me envious sitting here with my XZ Premium, lol

Cons:

* Chubby and slippery

* No 3.5mm audio jack

*The selfie camera has been downgraded and poor quality

* Capturing slow-mo videos is rather difficult.

* Camera lacks OIS, while the Intelligent Active Steady Shot stabilization is still limited to 1080p@30fps videos.

I don't get why they downgraded the selfie cam.
Maybe they leave it to the Premium.

Also XZ2 is 140 Euro more expensive than XZ1 was.
I have to say this trend is disgusting.
I remember phones like Z2 costing 500 Euro max.
Now it's almost double the price.

Reading gsmarena's review, this seems like another failure of a phone from Sony. Sad...

Umm, no? The XZ2 is very competitive in benchmarks, and tops many of them. Given Sony's history the real world performance should be class leading. The loud speakers are greatly improved over past Xperia flagships and the audio quality through the headphone adapter actually seems to be even better than the XZ1 with its built in headphone jack. The camera is an overall nice step up from past Xperia flagships due to the new processing. Not necessarily class leading, but competitive. Battery life is strong, beating the S9 in the endurance rating by 10 hours. The design, they seem to feel that should be up to the individual to judge for themselves. Plus it's got unique features like the vibration motor.

How in the blue hell do you read that review and deem it to be a failure?

They praised the display, new speakers, overall performance, rear camera, battery life and the close to stock UI.

Im struggling to see where your point is relevant as in most cases the Z2 out does the S9.

Wow. Guys, we're on esato, there's no need to act like Sony shills.
For me the phone's a failure. The design is ugly - if you put the phone on a flat surface, it spins like a fidget spinner, the camera is not as good as other 2018 flagships, even 2017 flagships. And the most obvious reason - the removal of the headphone jack and their stupid and pathetic pr nightmare of a response yesterday for its removal. A phone as thick should've had a jack, no excuses besides their greed.

You just don't like Sony phones and come here to complain about a thing that you will not buy.
