Zackbuks was saying that no more 4k display phones announce this year, and he hope September not to announce xperia 2 ,but rather hoping for a xperia 1plus or xperia 1c type, or rather not announce anything during September, and focus on next year first half on a phone with smaller display then subsequently larger display phone for second half.

Just for curiosity.
There is an old exmor 12.2MP 1/1.7" .
It has 1.85 micron.

In case new phones bring similar hardware. Which would be weird because Sony usually keeps sensor for at least 18 months.

If this phone(X2-X1s-X1C) is just a smaller 1, it probably won't have new hardware. I hope they don't announce anything they can't sell quickly.

Does anyone know what the dynamic range of HLG footage of Xperia in terms of stops? I don't know if it can be measured like that but I wonder why they can't use the same approach for stills too. Is it made with multiple exposures for each frame or is it the native DR of the sensor? Is the RAW file in 8bit while video is 10?

@PPl https://www.cinema5d.com/sony-xperia-1-review/

It says 10 stops. But he used the 52mm only, I dont know why.

HDR and 10 bit video have natural higher DR and gamut.
DR of photos on cellphones are tricks.
Most of the times they dont show scene how it really is.

One of main problems of recent xperia is the fact they slow shutter down in day light to make foreground brighter.
Many photos of xz2 look like taken by phone with f1.7 instead of 2.0.
Than gray cloudy sky goes white.

Pricebaba profile of X20 says 3500 mAh.

Thanks Hawk. I was just wondering if the sensor was capable of giving more info for video, can they use it to imrove DR on jpeg stills? But I guess it's not the same thing as the real cams.

I guess it's because of its metering mode that Xperias have weird exposures. I think they use either center weighted, and turns to spot metering on touch-to-expose. I used to change it to frame average and turn HDR on for manual.

3500 is good for a midrange small(ish) phone if true. But it also says 25.000 rupees? I thought they left India too. 350 dollars for SD710? Hard to believe when they priced the 10 that much.

Someone told me once to always rely on AF.
The object of your interest better be in the center, move the device if necessary.
And dont touch on screen of xperia to focus because it can change exposure and overexpose shots.
Only use cam button, if the device has ...

Other brands use full frame and pretend photo was taken by their front cam.
Next Spiderman, Sony should lie and say whole movie was done by Xperia. 😊

I can find X1 here (not official) for same price Xr arrived.
Too much for my student wallet. 😰
In american dollars it is $1324.

I am using Samsung low end.
It is too sad.

Isocell made for Xiaomi is 1/1.33" .
Sony using 1/2.6" ... 😰

HTC has given up. Now Sony is the only one never notched.

That could have been my method until you said physical button. I'd avoid it for less shake.

My calculations are right. 108mp is 1/1.33" I wonder how big the protrusion will be.

Depends on how thick will be mix4 and number of lens elements they use.

I meant the overall thickness.

If this sensor was 12mp it'd have 2.4um pixels which is the same as rx100. Do it Sony!

The size of the module depends on how thick is the sensor (isocell has better litography than exmor).
How many lens elements are going to be use (4,5,6,7 or and how thick is each one and space between them.
If Xiaomi is going to use cam bulge or make phone thicker to eliminate it.

Sony probably dont even sell 1 mi flagships.
I highly doubt they will ever make a very expensive sensor for their phones.
Imagine the price of a 1/1.3" + DRAM.

For example, let's look at Alpha.
7R4 has new 61MP sensor, better EVF , Z battery, better sealing than A9, bit bigger body.
Priced about $3700. A9 was released for $4600.
Because A9 has motion eye.
