size of lens elements are a lot a bigger problem then litography probably.

i always said sensor prices are nothing for 1000 dolars phones

redmi note 7 sold @150 dolars with 48mp sensor and 2 cameras.

I know it depends on a lot of things, I just wonder how much they are willing to go.

They are not selling many because they are not giving their 100%

If they do 2.4um, can't they use the same process of RX sensors, just cut them shorter. They don't have to increase DRAM either, it'd still be 12mp.

A 10mp 2.4um would make about 1/1.46", not to far off Huawei's 1/1.55, it should be doable for Sony.

Do we know anything about X20's cameras?

Smaller sensors are harder to make than bigger and you end up wasting more silicon.
Phone lenses will never resolve all resolution because they dont have same quality of real lenses.
10MP is to low. It prevents future 6K recording if Snapdragon brings at some point.

I think X20 will use 12MP 1/2.9" 26mm (same of 10+) and 12MP 1/3.4" 52mm (same of X1) ...

Someone here said before MWC that 666 was real, but still prototype.
And 1/1.5" instead of 1/1.8" stated on wiki.

Imx586 is $25 only.
LOL , Apple pays more for a worse sensor.

I bet Sony is saving at least $10 per device trading Exmor for isocell.
Let's suppose they sell 3 mi this year.
Would be $30 mi more for them.

Except Pixel 3a, all other midranges do similar.

Then they must be wasting a lot already on 1/2.6. Why not make it 1/1.5

If lenses can't resolve that resolution, then a higher mp sensor can't resolve anything that's not resolved by the lens. So 10mp is plenty. Hence huawei doing it for years now. 12mp 1/1.33" would also be an option if they ever wanted to go that way.

6K recording is fine but then you'll need 33Mp for 8K. Then we'll have tiny pixels just for recording a video for 5mins.

10+ has better detail in good light on gsmarena's comparison tool. But falls short in low light. They'd better improve something. Those specs are just another fail coming but Sd710 might give it some edge on processing. The lack of leaks is weird. I suspect ifa will be very boring for us if this keeps up.

XZ was last exciting IFA.

6K is about 17MP.
Since 21:9 uses part of sensor only you need more.
Maybe about 23.

Lenses cannot resolve 100%. Unless Sony starts to make GM for Xperia, G are midranges and low end lenses on Alpha.
If you keep 12, you may not get even 9.
If you have 20, you may at least have more than 12.

1.2 micron is more than enough to use below ISO3200.
Newer sensors dont have same levels of light leaks to neighbor pixel like older sensors.
P20 Pro even at 40 wipes the floor with iphone.

Settings you are using matter more.
When DxO reviewed X Perf , they posted one handheld against tripod to show how different results came out because of the different values of ISO and shutter. Does not even look from same phone.
No matter if you have Pixel 3, Xs Max or S10 the photos will be crappy if you let ISO up.

I still want monochrome back.
Like video I posted two weeks ago.
XZ2P humiliating x1 at night.

A combo 25 MP 1/1.7" RGB + 16MP 1/1.7" mono could do a lot.
I don't like the UWA.
Most people won't use it as much like the 52mm.
Mine has 25mm, too wide for my taste already.

The device Max J posted must be MWC new Premium.
Why else would Sony sign deal with Light ?
He said 48MP, according to wiki the 666 was 48MP in 4:3 mode ..
I have never seen a sensor being removed from that page before.

Sumahoinfo.com says the 2 will be available on September. Pre-orders will be open immediately after the announcement. But we still haven't seen one real pic. Strange.

X1 has a pretty good lens, I think it needs variable aperture and less sharpening.

X10+ and redmi note 7 has the exact same settings for low light on gsmarena's comparison tool. 640iso 1/20 shutter and even their apertures are the same but 7 takes it easily.

Most sensors can't go beyond 3600iso anyway, 1.2um is too small. Especially for Sony who can't or won't deliver a noise free good light photo.

Deal with Light is for all of their customers. I believe they are going to use R&D of aube for it.

Maybe the 666 is gone because they wanted to go with DRAM or their deal with Huawei is too sweet they are spending their efforts for them, customizing sensors etc. That rgbw imx607 is also absent, no actual products with it then came the sensor on the Huawei with yellow pixels.

So , preorder open few minutes after event like they did with 10/10+.
They are able to do with all devices, except the Premium one.
Very suspicious.

Even at 48MP Redmi Note 7 would win.
1/2" against 1/2.9" ..
Larger sensor deals better with higher ISO.
There is also the better spectra from CPU.

P20 Pro at 10 or 40 most of the time dont show difference.

Should should have kept imx300 or given 400 to midranges.
The 666 on wiki was described as motion eye.

Motion Eye was created by Imaging.
Semicon was just the factory.

X2 must really be like render leaked months ago.
Triple cam on left side.
Smaller but than X1.

This new sensor of Huawei is 1/1.55 the imx666 was supposed to be 1/1.5. I think there's a connection between the disappearance of these sensors and Huawei using something similar later.

I think they are waiting for the flagship soc to get discounted so they can sell with a higher profit margin. But also 1's new cameras weren't ready, even after release they had to update it soon. If they turn to 2 flagship per year cycle they might do better in terms of release time in the future.

New midrange should have imx586 and better cpu without a price hike.

10/40 difference shows in HDR and low light, sometimes in door.

X2 is like the render for sure but if it's gonna be on sale in the first week of September, doesn't it mean the production is already started and should ship to retailers soon? But still no real life pic. Not even front panel leak.

Render of X2 has bit bigger upper bezel and shitor lower bezel.
Rumors point to 10MP selfie, probably same used by Note 10.

First leak was 3 months ago.
Too soon for Sony standards.
The official render of XZ2 came out 1 or 2 days before MWC.
Same for XZ1.

😱😱😱 https://sumahoinfo.com/post-33490

How do you fit 3 rear cameras (2 with OIS) and decent battery inside a body as small as iPhone SE?
🤔🤔🤔🤔

That leaves 1.35mm side bezels. Unless the display is curved I don't see how it can fit.

This phone wouldn't have 3 cams probably. And would be around 9mm thick with Oled. Did Zackbuks confirm a compact is coming? Fitting that 5" 2:1 screen in xz1c body would be a feat let alone Xperia P. Which looked pretty nice back in the day.
