Have to say, I am absolutely loving this phone

The battery life is insane and the camera features keep me fiddling with it all the time when I am out and about.

I was lucky to get a device that has a BOE panel so no issues there.

EMUI9 has been great so far, fast and smooth. The Mate 20 Pro feels like a blend of Galaxy S9+, iPhone X S Max and P20 Pro, it sort of takes the best of each of those devices and then adds its own flavor with the Super Wide Lense camera, Super Macro Mode, 40W Super Charging, Reverse Charging and nanoSD.

I am using my Mate 20 Pro in Performance Mode 100%of the time as the battery life still lasts more than a day in this mode, so may as well take full advantage of the Kirin980

Lastly the compact design make this device a pleasure to handle daily for long periods, and the Twilight colour sticks out so well, I see some people looking at my device trying to figure out what it is and others do ask about it.

I am thoroughly impressed overall.

With all that said of course it has its downsides, e.g. The jelly effect in 4K video recording (I don't see it in 1080P@60FPS though). Also stabilization when zooming simply ain't as good as what the Dual OIS did in my Galaxy Note8.

I would like to know why Huawei opted for Mali-G76 MP10 and not MP18?

I was thinking of the Mali G-76 MP18 and not the previous model obviously.

I wondered the same, but now I see even Samsung are not using the MP18 in their latest Exynos, but rather the MP12

Maybe the MP18 just wasn't worth the cost? Or required too much power?

Is this another issue related to the LG Displays? I have a a BOE Display on my Mate 20 Pro and it's brilliant

Loving this phone, it's been rock solid for me.

Play that video on your Mate 20 Pro to see if you have the same problem -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNJQY1tP5mY&t=1283s

Personally I had the same problem with a screen LG but also with the one made by BOE

Great write up by Forbes:

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro's Epic Battery Life Has Spoiled Me For Other Phones

Have to agree, I have never come across a smartphone with the battery life the Mate 20 Pro gets, I simply cannot charge the phone when I go to bed as it usually still has a lot of juice left in it, so I usually plug in the next day at midday at work and thanks to the Super Charger, within less than an hour the phone is at 100% again. It's like having your cake and eating it, absolute insanity this device.

It's been 4 months with this beast and I am still thoroughly loving it

- The huge battery just keeps it going forever, I have my Display brightness set at 70%, and I am still getting well over 7.5hours SOT with over 24hours off charge, and then some, I usually go to be with about 35-40% Battery and wake up with about 30-35% as I do have Location, Bluetooth etc.. Turned on all the time. I usually just plug the device in the next day at midday and within 1hour it's back to 100% thanks to Supercharging.

- The Camera has been great, the Super Wide Mode has had me really trying my photography skills. My pet peeve with the Mate 20 Pro is that the camera gets incredible results BUT doesn't have good Stabilization, so sometimes you have to take more than 2 images just to make sure, the stabilization just isn't as good as a Samsung Note8 or Note9.

- EMUI continues to be fast and fluid, I live how fast this UI is, it simply has no stuttering at all, it just flies through the UI.

Overall this device is proving to be a real road warrior, lasting forever even on days where I fly between cities and need to use apps like Uber, Waze and Netflix to get through a day where I fly out to another city to meet a client and flyback home that night.
