I've used Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite for 3 months and honestly i prefer the MIUI over stock android, because MIUI has many built in features that's not available on stock android.
Quick Ball, dual app, app lock and phone call recorder are few built in features that are really uselfull for me.

I've heard many people talk sh!t about MIUI ads but usually those people are never use Xiaomi phone or is either they are not smart enought or simply to lazy to turn off all the ads/"recomendations".
