Am new with this feature... And actually i am not yet able to use this feature on my T39m.

Currently im using a prepaid Smart-Money sim card, and i think it does not support GPRS and also i tink no GPRS signal in Los Banos (smart network).

Am actually planning to go into subscription to experience GPRS.

Could you help me out on which network (GLOBE or SMART) offers the best in GPRS? How much does it cost? And do they have a prepaid sim which supports GPRS?

Thanks!!!

@dan_t, we have discussed this before. you have to be on postpaid subscription to use gprs. smart has gprs coverage in your area, don't know about globe.

does smart charge by the amount of data downloaded or by the minute...

Smart telecenter here are quite un-educated regarding GPRS.

Help-line (*888) says its for free, but telecenter here says its 8pesos per minute...???

I'm really confused. If its charged by the minute then its just similar to WAP over GSM just that its faster.

The GPRS is still FREE, the service they're referring to with the P8/minute charge is the CSD/data service of SMART

@dan_t, *888 customer service people are more knowledgeable than telecenter staff. what they said (FREE) is true.

Great!

If you encounter any problems with GPRS, the board is a great information resource.

There are plenty of threads, posts and discussions about GPRS, notebook/Pc configurations and even PDAs.

the "search" function is your friend.

Hope you'll host the next EB.

Nobody seems to be sure about Smart being able to provide good GPRS or if they do have this technology at all but I have been enjoying Globe GPRS since November 2001 including retrieving, reading, composing and sending e-mails! I love this technology! And its for free with Globe! I have a T68 and a R520!
