Yeah.. Insurance groups are:

Groups 1 to 20

Group 1 = Robin Reliant etc etc
Group 10 = Seat Ibiza Gti 8v
Group 20 = Ferrari, Porsche, Lotus etc

Obviously the higher the insurance group, the more youre gonna pay.. it all goes against ur age, driving experience, points on your licence (if u have any) bans (!!).

The groups are like a standard thing and you HAVE to have insurance, shame that its just so dear to insure cars nowadays, but its best to start with your own insurance on a small car say like upto Group 5/6 and build it up that way. Over the years youll build up whats called No Claims Bonus's marked in a %. 5 years driving accident free insured will give u approx 60% No Claims which basically gives you 60% off the normal cost of the insurance - some companies can go upto 65 or even 70%.

You gotta shop around when it comes to insurance and see who can give u the best deal, the cheapest dont necessarily mean that you got the best deal when it comes to the actual insurance, read all the small print etc etc.. Ive jusr renewed my car ins and shopped around and saved nearly £200!!! Its a big rip off... but someones gotta pay when theres an accident involved.
