Pim Fortuyn, a far right Dutch politician was shot and killed tonight at 18.00 CET after leaving a live radio interview in Hilversum. The party named after him was prognosed to gain up to 15% of the electoral vote in the upcoming national elections on 15 May 2002.

===

This is the first Dutch politician to get killed. We all are sickened and appalled by it
Personally I objected to his points of view, but this is not the way to deal with one's objection.....

Groet.
Chris

I have to correct you on this Ejasim.
He was not a rascist as the foreign journalists liked to present him. He had some strong views about the subject, but he definitely was not! Mind you, number two on his candidatelist is a black guy (!) from the cape verdian islands !
This rascist thing has been blown out of proportion by all foreign media.
I did not like his political views because they were to vague.

I do not like Anyone being killed for their (whatever !!) political views !!!

It is/was no secret that Pim Fortuyn was gay.

What you are referring to was Pim Fortuyn's response to the fact that a certain imam El Moumni, who administers a Islamic church in Rotterdan called gay people "less than dogs, less then pigs".
This imam was called upon before a parlementary commission. He lied about having said these things !!!
As El Moumni does not speak Dutch, only Arabic, he was not aware though that some Dutch journalists do understand Arabic. I will not repeat the things he said but he sure is a bigott !!
Though I do noy subscribe to Pim Fortuyn's ideas I would NOT mind if this bigott was to be thrown out of our country !!!

Don't be so patronising ejasim !

Pim Fortuyn just spoke the word of the 'man in the street'.

He was right in my opinion about that.

Fact.
1. Islamic people do not integrate in Dutch society.
Just look at the trouble we are having with Islamic youths in the big cities here. Eg. swimming pools: groups of young Maroccan males (always groups, never induviduals !!!) are terrorising female visitors at swimming pools. Probable cause in my opinion: Islamic boys/fathers are allowed complete freedom while their sisters/mothers, Islamic girls, are retained at home like prisoners, waiting for a pre-arranged marraige to Mr. Unknown. Thus creating a very confusing environment for those (male) who are 'free'.

2. Imam El Moumni
He was quizzed by Dutch Government officials and he DID lie when the translated transscripts came through. Period.
