I wrote to SE USA, in part:

I am axiously awaiting the T39m phone's introduction to the US. I have read in online forums from Europe that the model has been discontinued!! ...

SE response:

The T39m is still in production and should be sold in the US by Voicestream Wireless. The model was release just a couple of months ago. Please contact Voicestream customer care, 1-800-937-8997 for further information.

I don't know about California, but here in New York City, many independent cellular phone stores still carry the Ericsson T39 even if it is discontinued because not many people buy that phone, but only because it was never officially introduced, not because it's a bad phone. Like in New York (Chinatown), you could geta free T39 with a new plan.

Limited number were released in Canada for Rogers AT&T Wireless but will not be widely available. The phone is no longer being manufactured.

So, my 3rd correspondance was to the Public Relations Manager in Sweden. He forwarded my query to Customer Support... Uh oh, that's who was giving the dubious information before. This time here was their response:

"We apologize for the inconvenience; unfortunately the T39 is currently unavailable. However, you are able to purchase other International GSM phones like the T68 or T68i."

They need to get this information to ALL their people.

Much as I love this phone, I rather doubt you will see it on Voicestream at all. According to what the support people told me, they are jumping straight to the T68 (which, while a nice phone, does nothing for me since I have a color PDA). This post was posted from a T39
