I have been using Orange 3 g and o2 3g.
very impressed with them both, However i have only been able to used o2 in one place.

On Orange I have used it in most places i go with out problems.

I have even got a Orange 3g signal in the country side where there isnt o2 or vodafone at all.

Very happy with it

Im planning on getting the SE P990 Once it comes out......Now i am currently on a 1 month rolling contract with O2 would i need to get anything enabled/upgraded to take advantage of the 3G service when i get my P990????

I can use the full http GRPS gateway and opera works fine on my P900 at the moment so data seems to be ok but what about 3G?

you may need a new sim card and/or 3g activated on your account, youll have to speak to customer services about what exactly you personally need though.

you wont need any different settings in your phone.

Yer they should be able to sort me out. They did a really good job of transfering my number from PAYG to contract when i took the online sim card offer....so i should be fine once ive got the P990.

Guys - just ordered up my K800i on O2. For now I just want it because it is the next one up from my K750i - I'm not bothered at the moment about 3G.

My question however is - do you think the phone will be able to access GPRS - WAP etc etc from a regular SIM? I buy a phone from O2 each year because they do not lock them or brand them excessively - but need to be able to use my work SIM (orange) - in it when needed. From the threads I think that if I do not activate the 3G SIM supplied with the phone it should be no different from using the K750I on different networks...Or am I in for a nasty surprise?

@englishmanabroad: you should be able to switch off 3g in the 'Settings/Connectivity/Mobile Networks' menu on the phone.....

@mrvanx
Vodafone added 3G to my account over the phone; O2 told me I had to purchase a USIM to use the service

Thanks! @Aware.

I will change the settings to switch off 3G- just thought that if I activated the new 3G SIM with O2 - it would deactivate my existing O2 SIM - I guess I should wait until the thing gets delivered

You should be able to use both 2G and 3G sims as long as you have the settings. This message was posted from a K700i

If you activate the 3g sim it will deactivate your usual sim. You may be able to use your 3g sim in a non 3g phone
