If it is announced (as the topic says) then why is it still in the Rumours section?

Exactly.

...because its not announced.

announced means Sony Ericsson have a press release detailing the product, which they don't, so it isn't

I assumed moving it here would make it clear without me also needing to change the thread title but as this is not the case I'll also change the title now

Probably not fake.

If you go to

http://hspa.gsmworld.com/devices/detail.asp

And in the pull down menu "Sort by Device Brand" select SonyEricsson and then click on "Search now" it shows 3 HSDPA devices from SE, the PC300 data card, the Z750 and the W999i

The PC300 data card and the Z750 are not new, but the W999i is.

No details and the link for the W999i just takes you to the main SE WWW page.

But the GSM Association keeps track on products (GSM terminals, WCDMA terminals and also HSDPA enabled terminals) and so it is not unreasonable that they would have early knowledge of an up and coming SE HSDPA terminal like the W999i.

So far we have no details and while the M600/P1 style QWERTY keyboard hints at a Symbian/UIQ device, it is hard to know.

It is reasonable to assume the base platform hardware for the W999i could be the same base as used for the Z750, coming out shortly after the Z750 is available. Hence they would have similar spec.s but targeting different audiences.

But on the other hand, this might be an updated W950 too, coming out late this year.

We will just have to wait and see.

But it seems that it is not a high-end mobile phone.

according to this
W999i does exists cause it has been listed in GSM association website.

but the specs doesn;t looks any better than current SE phones.
in fact in rumour P1i still have better specs. unless W999i specs changes..

Wasn't this supposed to be W950 successor?
No Symbian or touchscreen ?
Am I missing something or am I the only one confused by SE numbering?
