Yes, I have noticed that....could be shadow tho(and I'm not saying it's a perfect scale drawing, I didn't create it).....

.... but it's about the closest match to the data I have on P3, so far...

Hi all,

I thought the true P990 successor isn't going to be due till mid to late 2008 so it can take advantage of Symbian 9.5. I really hope it does come with an up to date spec and a more mature and stable OS.

so it sounds that UIQ 3.0 is already mature and stable based on your judgement

M600 > P1
P990 > P3

So genious how do you suppose would be the quickest entry of data in tables or fields or even a long 3+ paragraph email WITHOUT a keypad?!

* man some minds are just too focused! Do you imagine a little stick will be quick and tapping on a screen? HTC Touch has the keypad removed like the p3350 but the bulk of their lineup has full qwerty for a specific reason.

So where is the P2?

lol i know this is very farfetched and impossible..
but P910 > P2?
i know se probably wont revive uiq2, but if they did it, that would be something to me... i always liked the UIQ2 interface more than the newer one...

oh well... waiting for more info on this phone!

We already know there's an M610 on the way, which is the "true sucessor" to the M600, complete with wifi but no camera - so these M600 -> P1 assumptions are spurious.

What we've seen with the P1 is simply the P990 taking on a new (and popular) form factor, together with enough tweaks to the technology to banish bad memories of the P990. It may well be a stopgap successor to the P990, but it is still a successor - features wise, it has much more in common with the P990 than any of SE's other smartphones.

The P3i will, I believe, be a complimentary line assuming the flagship role from the P1, but not replacing it. They'll be priced quite differently (the P1 already being a lot more affordable than many were expecting), and will make up a new two-tier P series line, alongside the continuing W flagship (the W960i) and the continuing M series (the M610i). All four will be targetting slightly different markets, from the corporate message client, to leisure-oriented home consumer, to professional connected businessperson, to high-end performance pro. Assuming the P3i name is correct, and that will be the next P series announcement, I think it's very unlikely that we'll see a P2 - unless that's what a later update to the P1 becomes.

I'll be buying the P1 when I can regardless of what happens with the P3i; it's more the phone for me.

@razec

I really don't know where you got that impression from as that is certainly not what i said as what i said was

"I really hope it does come with an up to date spec and a more mature and stable OS."

Which means IMO that i do not consider the OS to be either mature or particularly stable at this point at this time but 6-9 months you never know SE may just surprise us all. As IMO they failed to do with he P1 that still exhibits some of the P990 problems which you would of thought they would of fixed prior to launch. But of course no problems there really as I'm sure there will be a firmware or two to address these issues because we all know how well that worked in the past year don't we.
