I have no idea so dont flame me here but.....

this is really stupid but give me a little break....

big breath in big breath out......

How can it be impossible when.....

windows will work on any motherboard!! I am sure there are some drivers that are built into the motherboard. So like the graphic card with the P800 those drives are not such in the memory but on the chip that handles the graphics understand !??!?!?!?!?

You can plug in any graphic card and DOS will work regardless driver or not installed.

I cant see why it wont work!

If the drivers are not on the chips itself then why not install the different driver. It must be possible!

I dont know I am just hoping it will work cause i want it to work. but we will see if it works or not!.

I guess if it does not all you need to do is reflash it back to old version!

Yes, P800 ZenMaster.

I think it will be like the T68m and T68i.

I'll wait, and won't buy a P900, it isn't so nice like the P800. I asked many people, and showed the Photos. Everyone said that the P800 is much nicer. The Color, the Design, and the back of this device is GREAT.

As we have most of the features of the P***
It would make more sense to just have the applications that the p800 dosent have flashed from the P*** firmware
No need to worry about screen colours or other conflicting issues

I think also! The P800 is much more modern looking P800. It has smooth lines like a diablo. Where the new P900 looks like lamo before. Boxy looking!

Because when you install a 4096 (12bit) screen, you don't install a 16 bit chip to service it. Since it's more expensive and completely useless. If the firmware is not made to run in 12bit mode (why should it, if it's made for 65k screen of p810/900), there will obviously be a problem there.

It's very much possible that will release own firmware upgrade for P800 that will give it similar functionality, like T68 & T68i, which as I have understood is not a completely similar hardware!?

I would expect software to run on either screen and display fine, in much the same way an program written for a color Nokia 7210 will run unchanged on a black and white 3310. Obvously and 16 bit colors will only display in the "closest" 12 bit color, but I would expect it to work.

However, I would doubt that any shop would legally be able copy the flash memory from the P900 to the P800, since SE would only have licenced UIQ 2.1 for the P900. Even though possible, I am suprised that the shop said they would do it???

Wrath000 whats going on about the 4096 screen? i dont think this is valid, how many TFT screens you know that they produse only 4096 colours? always TFTs produse the 65k its the internal chip only not the screen.I dont find a reason why sony make a 4096 screen when all the TFTs standard is 65k the cost is the same and even bigger if you try to make a differend screen from the standard. The cheaper is always the standard. All of you be more careful what you saying here or vermania gets u

It would also be possible for SE to add code to the firmware to detect which hardware 800/900 is was running on, and prevent it running on the P800... even if it was physical capable.

It's a nice thought though none the less

Going back to they guy who said the Atari Lynx had a 4096 display but with a 16 bit chip.

I'm pretty sure the 16 bit refered to the processor for the lynx not the VDU processor.
