It has been a long time coming but i think you will find that Data is coming to the masses and is going to be huge. Forget the 02 surfing the real web ads that were for Wap. It is here now the cost and speed plus the superior device performance really does give the full web experience on the move.
With the introduction of fixed price Data plans by now 3 of the major players it means Data is now affordable and fast enough to be truly viable and an enjoyable experience. Gone are the days of waiting for a page to download Data is getting supercharged within 18 months you will see speeds getting close to a good current broadband connection.

Most of the mature markets are at virtual saturation the only new growth is in Data and after all this is what they bought 3G licenses for not voice but Data. I hope to see some truly amazeing devices to appear in the coming Year especially those with the Texas Instruments OMAP series 3 chips and a nice 1500aMh Li-Polymer battery from my E61 would b good to.

@Dogmann

I agree when it comes to utilizing mobile phones to download music, ringtones, pictures, etc. or checking e-mail.

However it's gonna be some some time IMO, before we see wide spread adoption of mobile internet browsing as that is found most unconvienient by many people, at least that's what a survey conducted by a company I work for shown.

I know only a few people who use their handsets for net browsing ( I do it on a daily basis) despite the ninety-and-something percent HSDPA coverage in my country and attractive data tariffs.

I'm not saying feature packed smartphones won't be ever adopted by the masses, my point is it's not going to happen in the next two years. At the moment most of average mobile phone users don't utilize even half ( if not less ) of their handsets features. I don't think it will change very soon, and until that happens, the average user's prime motor behind purchase of all-in-one devices will be - in most cases - prestige.

Here is where lies the problem. If you disregard Nokia's S60 are smartphone, S60 price and specs (like bigger screen size, cheaper memcard, better video rec, cheaper memory card, better connectivity etc) still beat SE phones. And we know a big proportion of buyers of S60 smartphone do not buy it because it is a smartphone. That is why S60 smartphones sell in huge volume like a normal phone. So SE phones are competing with Nokia smartphones.

Athough it probably will have it, I'm not sure why HSDPA is important to a camera-centric phone like Sofia . For browsing the web, each web-page is only a few kb .
