Just thought I'd stop by (it's been a while) to say I'm really enjoying the 4S. I was on contract still with my 3GS right up until October so the 4S was perfectly timed for me. I pre-ordered on Vodafone, finally getting away from crappy O2, and have been loving it ever since.

Obviously I'm comparing to a two year old phone, but the speed of the 4S is absolutely great and everything looks amazing too, a brilliant screen with some serious graphics crunching behind it. Voice quality seems excellent and the signal quality/resilience etc seems a lot better than the 3GS, which I'm not sure the 4 could ever claim.

Siri is certainly interesting, at first it just seemed like a bit of fun but I feel like I could get to use it more seriously. A lot of the other IOS5 improvements are very welcome, even down to simple things like finally there being a built-in Reminders app which syncs with Exchange tasks, one small detail that's always been missing from the iPhone's exchange suite.

I've not noticed any overheating problems or anything like that, battery life could be a little better but it's probably about the same as my 3GS, and is bound to get better after an update or two. I'm looking forward to those updates being nice little "delta" patches that we can install straight from the phone, rather than having to routinely download the entire OS image and going through the tether/backup/restore via itunes. Having said that, backups are great - my brand new 4S is still essentially the same phone as the first iPhone 3G I got in October 2008, and still has every text I ever sent or received since that date. As a hoarder, I think that's brilliant (and I still manage to cram 223 apps and around 1,800 songs into my 16GB).

There's a lot more competition around these days, but I think Apple are still the ones to beat..
