Yeah unfortunately Vodafone change little things like that! Its the most annoying aspect of branding because even if you debrand the firmware the buttons don't match the functions! Thankfully we've not done this too any of the UIQ3 phones - I'm hoping including the P700 (or whatever its final model number is )

As a side note, I'm fairly sure this is going to be my next phone!

ram is the single most important thing on these smartphones...

nokia realizes this too... that's why they have the e90...

truth be told the ram is not sufficient on the n95.. i know i have one...

you run your 5 apps... browser, message contact, music and standby... once one needs the memory it kills all the others in the background... that's not the way these things are suppose to work....

i rather have ram then speed.. which would you rather have... apps that don't autoclose due to lack of ram or the ability to restart the apps with a faster processor because the lack of ram caused them to crash?

I think that choosing between ram and speed will not be the case in future SE phones. P700 may have more RAM but its cpu speed seems rather low. But that does not mean anything. The phone has to be tested and compared to its rivals and only then draw a conclusion. I hope a true P990 will not have only more ram but also a better processor. To be perfectly honest i would also like a little bigger screen than M600s. Is that too much to ask?

but a faster processor sometimes means more often recharges
and about the screen, a bigger resolution too, right? i hope have a good battery developers. imagine how much energy will a 3" with 480*320 screen need....

RAM management is best handled by SE during the years of the P900/P910 but due to the numerous additions and upgrades of features from the predecessor. the RAM management become the main problem of the UIQ 3 phones. i remember that P910 performs better than 6630 even though P910 has 156Mhz processor and the other one with 220MHz. this is where RAM capacity is really advantageous over the faster processor. now SE is focusing to the RAM management there will be a day that P-series will regain the lost reputation someday.

Faster processor or higer ram?
Why not have em both? Why have to choose one of them if u can have both.
Also have to equip their smartphone with 1000++ah batt.

If I were choose between higher processor speed or more RAM, I choose higher processor speed anytime.

Higher speed affect the usability of foreground task. This has great impact on user satisfaction. One main complaint that you will hear over and over is "VERY SLOW UI". So what is the use of more RAM when you have to wait impatiently for something to finish (like loading of photos / web page).

More RAM allows you to run more tasks at the same time but we have at most 2 senses active when using phone - sight and sound. If you play mp3 in the background, and use one other foreground task at the same time you are already fully occupied!!! .

With more RAM in P700 you can leave contact, calendar, messaging or gallery app open in the background to improve performance the next time you use them. But if you have a fast processor in the first place, this is a mute point (as speed to open these apps from cold is already fast enough).

Thats why i like em to have both fast proc & more ram. Have alot of app in background, and running ligthing fast is a heaven.

If make phone like that i dont mind pay $100 - $200 more

I know what you mean. Faster cpu+more ram. But it is a perpectual cycle. Once we have faster+more, programmers then make more complex programs requiring more ram+cpu. And we are back to square 1 again.
