well I replaced mine. According to CPW, it was due to a bad batch.
they guaranteed mine is fine now but somehow I doubt it.

The SMS tone is still low. I remember the first being loud.

Oh well, I'll just keep replacing it until I get a perfect one.

oh gosh, dont like to see the problem you have been having, i got one for my mother yesterday but she hasnt had much of a chance to work with it yet cause i have been fiddling round with it. Seems a great wee phone but just has a few less things than i would like to have on mine, a little restrictive in parts.

mp3's camt simply be set as ringtones, they are stored in different folders, there are 2 folders for pictures, one for the TINY contact photo and one for all other photos, why cant they just have all photos in the same main folder and then split it up.

I totally agree that the sms sounds are crap and TOO low, i spent a few years with this problem on SE until they got it fixed with the k700, but the vibrate is very strong so no sms should go unmissed hopefully.

This is quite a big jump for my mum now, she had the SE Z520, just hope she likes it.

The phone itself it beautiful, when i saw it in the shop yesterday, a bad thing for me going in and looking i just had to make a purchase even if I only have two more weeks left of the contract and o2 probably would be getting it anytime soon so i started up a new contract with carphone warehouse. Better not have any problems! but then there's nearly always something that can go wrong.

"mp3's camt simply be set as ringtones"
Yes they can, you do it either by playing the song then setting as ring tone, going to options on the song then set as ringtone or in the profiles section.

how is the UI on this phone? I want to use this instead of my k750 at night and then use the p990 durring the day when it comes out. But I have had sony phones for years is the UI easy to get used to?

the UI is fairly easy to get used to.
A day of learning which keys do what at most.
