@Daisun

I wouldn't say being able to squeeze 10mp+ in a cam phone is an indication of how advanced a cellphone is.

Some Japanese handsets now have face recognition.

Mobile wallet tech and fingerprint recognition technology has been around there for years so I would honestly put Japan at the forefront of mobile tech. Take a look the the NTTDocomo product site.

@Daisun

I think the JPs got the KRs licked on this one mate. Korean phones are still trying to beat everyone on existing technology. ie, 10mpx camphones. existing technology. JPs movin' above and beyond. Playing with face recognition and whatnot as stated.

For a country to be 'technologically advanced' is to push the envelope and develop NEW things. In terms of mobile tech. What NEW thing have the KRs introduced? Not the first for camphones, not the first for smartphones, not the first for UIQ, not the first for WiFi.

Don't get me wrong. What the KRs have done is extremely impressive, and I'm blown away by some of the new KR innovations and designs. I just wouldn't say that they're way ahead of anyone in mobile tech.

that back is sure svelte! i hope they made the W850/W830 back that minimalistic instead. the light diode in the w850/w830 back looks out of place. to me, anyway

What goldenface said:

I think the technology moves along in Japan faster because the life cycle of a product is a lot shorter and companies have to bring out something new relatively quickly in order to remain competitive.

Life Calendar is SE's version of Nokia's life Blog.?

Anyway, the specification is really mind blowing. It may not have Wi-fi or built-in GPS reciever but it has the combined features of Cybershot, Walkman and Bravia!

I hope the European version would be announced soon.
