I disagree. I believe Ericsson were well on the path to improving the design of their phones. The T68m was a pure Ericsson design was it not? That phone kicked ass. Future phones would have been developed from that platform had the company had the cash. What Sony did bring to the merger was $$$

Right. T68 was pure Ericsson as well. Also successful T610 design was made by a swedish designer.
Ericsson realized what they did wrong, but it was little too late...

On the other hand remember Sony phones before the partnership. They sucked big time.

wrong, the designer of the t610 is a japanese. have'nt you read that in a post weeks ago asking who designed the phone. only a japanese can design something that simple and clean for it is a part of their culture to simplify things including design concepts.

the t68 is purely ericsson for at that time they have not formed an axis alliance yet.

sony phones sucks as well as ericsson at that time? a japanese is the boss of SE and and not an ericsson hot shot who orders ericsson personnel around. oh well you're a swede so love your own huh.

Designer of T610 is not japanese - His name is Erik Ahlgren and from the photo I saw of him he looked very scandinavian. You can also see some of the photos he has taken with his T610 at "featured artist" at www.sonyericsson.com/T610

What is push to talk?

Sounds stupid but: You push a button. And then you talk.
Much like a walkie talkie.
Push-to-Talk has been very popular in US (Nextel), and now it's coming to GSM (through GPRS/EDGGE). Nokia introduced the world's first GSM phone supporting push-to-talk (5140) and a few other nice things. In practice, several users can join a given group, and only the users in this group can listen to each other. When one user is talking, all others can hear. This could prove very attractive as in fact with this GSM solution, users can be located everywhere on the planet (and where the service is available).

So it seems is following what Nokia is doing
