I hope that X890i phone is a joke, because I'd surely be disappointed with SE's designers!

Big screen is nice and all, but that thing is U-G-L-Y.

I think you just insulted the guy who photoshopped this...
You shouldn't be that harsh, you know.

I apologize. I did not mean to be rude. I actually thought it was an actual phone, not a photoshop made by someone. I apologize wholehearted for my comments.

What!? The phone should do exactly 100% of what the manufacturer says it does. Otherwise, you wouldnt be wrong to make a legal case of it, if you wanted to. Not too unthinkable when you consider the cost of these phones. Anyway, I personally think that SE would avoid such errors at all costs, and with the time theyre taking to release the phone, and the beta testing thats involved and the redevelopments that have taken place (not to mention PK's additional assurance) this new phone should be great. Theres no reason why it shouldnt.

Plenty of reason. After more than a year and enough uproar that SE wants to erase all evidence of P990 ever existing, it still does not conform to published specifications. Needless to say, the only beta testing SE did with the P990 was to see if they could switch it on.

People I see it as completely misinterpreted when you use the P990 as the be all end all case study. The P990 seemed almost experimental, because it was the first of its kind for SE. It was huge because at the time hardware wasnt as advanced, it was buggy because the software wasnt as advanced, it was expensive because there was nothing else like it and it was ugly because that was before the whole apple era, so the market was not nearly as aware of product design and aesthetics issues as it is today.

Excuse me but just where did SE say that the P990 was an experimental device? When I paid the equivalent of a notebook's price for the P990, I expected to get a device that performed as advertised. It doesn't even meet the specifications published by SE themselves.

I think that UIQ3 is now a reasonably stable platform, and any step ups from it will show greater improvements with fewer shortcomings. SE know what they are doing. And I think that when they made the P990 they knew what they were doing too. Remember: it was the first which was a phone and PDA hybrid, of course it would evolve and get better with time. How could they just churn out a W960 if they had nothing to start with?

SE might have had a concept idea when they started with the P990, based on the excellent P900/910. Other than that they had no idea of what they were doing. All the delays with the P990 to finally release it in a state that should not have been clearly shows that.
Take the P1: it is smaller, has better specs, doesnt have the same issues to it, has better hardware (e.g. better camera) it is much more aesthetically pleasing, and so on.

The P1 is a sorry attempt by SE to cover up their P990 fiasco. It has basically the same hw as the P990 with a smaller screen, no lens cover and a funny keyboard. Even though the P1 is supposed to have a better camera, the P990 takes better pictures, at least there is no green tint! P1 is not really an advancement over the P990, they just learned about some of their mistakes and tried to correct them, messing up other things in the process. They could have come up with a 128 MB RAM P990 which would have been better but then they would have admitted their mistake with the original P990.

In my opinion SE is not like the other mobile manufacturers. They show much greater design consciousness, and the market responds to that, because I see many people with SE handsets on a daily basis whether they have the best specs or not.

Yes and if you keep looking you will see these same people struggling to find out why their brand new shiny SE phone has this or that problem and why it doesn't work properly.

At those posting about BeiBei, how exactly does BeiBei have anything to do with Paris/P5i?

And BeiBei is not a super high-end like Paris/P5i so I do wonder why so many seem to get so exited about it, seriously, why not bring some info on Paris/P5i, this is after all a Paris/P5i thread, right?
