I'm biased because of bad experiences with O2 but if this does happen on an exclusive basis it will probably kill the iphone. O2's data rates are prohibitive and their customer service and reliability leaves quite a lot to be desired. I took out a data plan with them as I needed to have access to email on the move, they turned it off with no explanation and no refund. It also took them 5 days to re-instate the service. It goes without saying I left O2 and so far no problems with T-Mobile and my unlimited data!

As someone else stated, T-Mob and iphone would have been perfect.

Why is everybody assuming if O2 get the iPhone that they will release it with only their current data plans?

Everybody knows AT&T in the US created new iPhone specific tariffs.

What's to say O2 or whoever won't do the same. For all we know, Apple may insist that its an 'unlimited data' option or nothing.

agree with previous post, it would be pointless bringing out the iphone without a specific data plan.

No confirmation yet. The thread title is a bit misleading.

The thread title comes from the news article to which it refers:

"O2 beats rivals in battle for the rights to Apple’s iPhone"

http://business.timesonline.c[....]rs/telecoms/article2028678.ece

When this post was created none of the subsequent reports doubting the original Times article had been published.

So, if its misleading then blame The Times!!

02 would be great if they sorted out there GPRS..
I checked my bill yesterday and noticed the new tariffs there doing couldn't believe the new £15 deals

im now torn what to do at the end of the year downgrade to the £15 tariff with them and have no phone or go to Three and get 75mins anytime and 600 texts for £15 per month + a phone it's all a dilema hehe
