You couldn't really fit a screen that size on a smaller handset and have those extra controls. Plus, like Katsura says, it is 3G too! So more functionality has been put in a smaller and lighter incarnation of the S700i.

I would say that 6280 is more closer rival to it since it has basically the same features, but in smaller size.

The main difference (and the biggest one) is that N70 is smartphone. That's why I wouldn't do a straight comparison between this so called W850 and N70.
