Do standard data cables perform the same function as these Infra-Red USB cables? If so, would I be better off just getting an IR USB

cable since I don't seem to be able to find a standard USB data cable anywhere. I've found the DCU-10 USB cable on expansys

(http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=ER520M_DCU-10&asource=ERIC_T68) but it NEVER EVER seems to be in stock (plus it costs 60

british pounds!) What should I do? Should I just go and look for the serial version of the data cable? or get a USB Infra-Red cable?

Which USB Infra Red cable should I go for? and where should I buy it.

I would like to connect my T68 to my desktop PC, so that I can manage my phone contacts, type sms messages with my PC keyboard, upload

backgrounds and ringtones. Pretty much exactly what I used to do with my old Nokia 6150.

I appreciate any help anyone could give me, and i've read through previous posts but none seem to answer my problems specifically.

i can tell you one thing.....

data cables transmit data faster that wireless connections....

because in wireless, there is atmospheric noise factors we have to consider...
unlike in data cable transmission...

the good thing about IR ports is that, for example you have 10 gadgets that have IR ports....
now it's an impractical thing for you to buy all 10 of them thier respective data cables....which might eventually cost you 10 times as much as compared to buying an IR port.... get the point?

point is, if you're just gonna use it with your phone, might as well buy a data cable....
unless you plan to buy other gadgets like handhelds and stuff...

Thnx man.

My T68 is the only thing I have which has got Infra-Red, so I guess I'll get a data cable. Thing is I've only found the USB data cable in one place http://www.expansys.com and it NEVER appears to be in stock (http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=ER520M_DCU-10&asource=ERIC_T68)

Can anyone help?
