mobilmania says the Sony Ericsson W42S, from Japan will be available for the GSM network as the W880.

ESATO NEWS

According to a leaked image shown on T-Mobile Czech website, the Sony Ericsson's W42S is listed as the W880 GSM model. Since its very easy to make a photoshop image like this, there is little chance of this rumour being real?but thats enough to get us excited anyway over the possibility of a Japanese Sony Ericsson handset heading to our shores.

1.3 megapixels?!? if they change the sensor to at least 2.0 and leave AF in it, i'm smelling a phone upgrade.... from my K800 (or downgrade, depending on how you look at it....)

This 3G (CDMA2000) slider also features a 1.3 megapixel cam, a 2.2-inch 262k color QVGA LCD, FM radio, an EPG to keep you hip to the TV schedule, and a feast of dedicated player controls including a new mechanical wheel unique to Walkman phone navigation.

Well those specs are from the original handset, the GSM version if it exists will proberbly be at least 2MP if not higher.

btw: I have already seen one of these on display at the New store in london,so that might be a sign?

T-Mob screwed this one up big time, they let a phone leak way ahead of everyone else. just might announce this earlier than scheduled

Can somebody work out a photoshop of those 4 front buttons and replace them with the (left softkey, internet, back) and (right softkey, activity menu, C) buttons? Makes sense, eh? As for that one button in the middle...

Methinks they might change the faceplate/keypad design somehow too, as in the K500 and F500

Just give me back my autofocus and I'm queueing up to get this on day one

Would be nice to have a music phone that looked like that it does look like a sony walkman mp3 player i bought earlier this year would help to identify certain models such as walkman or cybershot

I don't think so. What's the point? Too similar to the W850 and there's already going to be a a W610 for the lower mid-range.

SE's never released a phone worldwide and I don't expect it to IMO.

I keep on saying that they might've only used this image as a placeholder because of the lack of a press photo of the real W880i.
