I have seen lots of people in the UK, England and the phones with 3G always use there batteries up 5x faster than 2G phones. there arnt many places in England where i can pick up a 3G signal. so is there any point of wasting my money.

I nearly always have a 3G signal. I use it 3G a lot, mainly for the high speed data but also the video calling evry so often.

I turned it off, get twice the amount of battery power without it, plus its a bit pointless, i use wifi at work and at home and i never video call as it never works.

I don't know where you are in the UK but 3G coverage is good in most places and by most Networks. I never use Video calling and doubt i ever will but if you use Mobile Data the difference in speed is like using Dial up compared to Broadband.

I have to admit I'm not that bothered about upgrading to 3G. I might use the quicker data speeds a bit, but only for things like checking emails and browsing Esato... which I can do fine with 2.5G!

I'm quite happy on 2G and will stick with it for the immediate future at any rate, will wait till 3G data rates come down a bit more and people like three get rid of their ridiculous content 'walled garden'.

@Sammy_boy

Not too sure what you mean by when Data rates come down a bit more as if you are with T-Mobile and take either of their Web N Walk tariffs they are either £7.50 or £10 per month and even 3 now have 2 Data packages at similar prices and if you get a HSPDA able device T-Mobile even include this speed increase in their price plans. 3.5G speeds are going to be getting much faster over the next couple of Years and much faster than Broadband speeds are at the moment all this of course means nothing if you don't use or intend to use Mobile Data.

3g is a great feature, do love it. Especially cos its very fast at browsing. But for a really useful usage get a fone with edge and 3g support

3G is not the problem > well at least on your side of the pound & in your various wonderous countries. On my side of the pond in my country Canada its just TOO expensive!

For most of you gents in Europe its battery technology and frugal consumption there of. Battery technologies for cellphones are just too old.
> Fuel Cell is still too new and too bulky to incorporate for usuage of our slim factor phones today.

As the future consumption rate for power continues our requirement for it will increase.

I don't know if I'm lucky or unlucky I don't have this dilemma. There's no 3G in my country!
