Hi people,

My contract is about to end and this is my chance of getting a new phone. I currenty own an iphone 3G 8gb. I like my iphone very very much so my new phone will not be a total replacement but more like a companion to it. I think the iphone 3GS is a great device (specially because of the new hardware inside) but it feels like a 'better version of a phone I already have' instead of something new. That's why I've started considering the milestone/droid. The milestone has great hardware and android 2.0 which everybody is saying is the best 'touch OS' out there besides the iphone OS, and since it's a 'google experience phone' it can be updated to google's latest versions of android with no problem.
My question is, does anyone here actually have a droid or milestone? Are you happy with it? What about the apps and games? Is the app store really so much better than the android market? Any other info about the droid/milestone will be very welcome too!

thx!

Hi buddy, i have the Milestone and also an iphone 3gs and a Motorola Dext that is up for sale on here. I have to say i am really impressed with the Android OS, and although the Milestone doesnt have the Motoblur overlay it is a lot quicker moving between the menus and screens etc. The keys on the hardware keyboard are too flat really, although texting, emailing etc is no big hardship and is certainly easier than with the on screen keyboard. The camera is an OK affair, a lot better than the Heros effort , but not really up with the N97/mini especially when using the flash. Androids marketplace is fast gaining momentum but at present Appstore is by far superior. I enjoy using the Milestone far more than i do using my iphone at present, wether that is because its new and the novelty will wear off, or wether im finding Android is far nicer to use i dont know, time will tell. Overall i am very pleased with the Milestone, eveything seems very well put together, no sloppiness in the keyboard slide, call quality is excellent and battery life seems more than acceptable for smartphone. The only gripe i do have is that the metal battery cover has some movement in it....but no big deal. Hope this helps.

Regards Craig

The Milestone user interface is responsive, its qwerty keyboard is good, Android software has matured to the same level with competitive operating system, GPS navigation and other features make the device a powerful product. However, Motorola has priced the Milestone at the same level with the best and most expensive smartphones, like the iPhone, Nokia N900, Samsung Omnia, and the Sony Ericsson Xperia. In this category, not many things can be out of whack.
