I cancelled my contract with o2 this month as they wanted to move me onto a 24 month contract and up my tariff to 60pm just for a upgrade to an X10.
I asked for my PAK code and was told I would get it within 4 hours by text and i'd also get a letter sent confirming my PAK code in writing. I was told that I had 23 days from the date of my phone call to transfer the number.
This was a week ago now and I still haven't received anything.
Have I been informed correctly by o2 or have they just done the usual fobbing valued long standing customers (of over 10 years before they were even called o2) off and can't be bothered to send me my PAK code.

Any info would be helpful

in my experience O2 do give the pak code as described unlike tmob who give it immediately over the phone.

Ring them back and complain and they will probably give it on the spot as it must already have been generated.
once you have the pak code and give it to the new operator, it only takes two days to transfer

I had the same problem, they said it would be 24 hours, ended up with nothing after about 4 days, so I spoke to someone on the live chat thing on their site, he did it as I waited there and then so might be worth trying that!
Now if only the Carphone Warehouse weren't so useless, I may be able to actually use the thing..

Cheers. I'll ring them soon as I get home on Saturday. Waiting for the code so I can activate my giffgaff sim card.

There is no rush anyway as you wont be able to do anything with your Portal Authorisation Code until GiffGaff have their system back up and running..... it's back online....

I'll be transferring to them too when they do, if O2 don't give me the code within the 24 hours I'll be ringing them straight back.

I once pressured 3 into giving it me there and then, to hear "give me one moment", and she generated it there and then, why they can't all do that I don't know

I never even received mine. Moved over to giffgaff and also phoned offcom and reported o2. Ended up leaving giffgaff due to problems and going back with o2.
