The operator’s two new PAYG deals offer unlimited data, or unlimited landline calls, from Ł10 per month
Virgin today announced it is adding two new unlimited tariffs to its pay-as-you-go (PAYG) offering.
The ‘Big Data and Texts’ tariff starts at Ł10 per month, providing unlimited data and 300 texts, and for Ł15 customers an get unlimited texts.
The ‘Big Talk’ tariff starts at Ł10 per month with unlimited calls to any landline plus 120 mobile minutes, while adding an additional Ł5 will also provide unlimited texts.
The company said its decision came after it realised the lack of unlimited calls, data and texts on PAYG deals was putting customers from taking them up.
The new deals are aimed at customers “who don’t relish the prospect of taking out a new contact with the arrival of every latest smartphone.” PAYG deals are also popular with teenagers due to the age restrictions on contracts.
Virgin Media director of mobile Jamie Heywood said: “Unlimited data is a must to get the most out of the amazing smartphones available today. People want to be connected wherever they are so we’ve introduced unlimited data without the ties of a contract.”
The operator has seen a 100 per cent increase in the amount of data consumed by its PAYG customers in the past year, and expects this trend to continue.
Smartphones now make up approximately 40 per cent of the handsets PAYG customers purchase from Virgin Media, up 20 per cent from a year ago. In competition to Three & GiffGaff

More news on the "unlimited" net on pay as you go. The terms say this

Virgin Media Mobile Acceptable Use Policy Pay As You Go
Virgin Media’s mobile services (“our services”) are for private individual use only (i.e. not for business or commercial use). As such, you must not use our services in any way that is not in keeping with that reasonably expected of a private individual.
You are liable for all use of all accounts in your name, irrespective of use without your knowledge and/or consent.
Further, you must not use our services in any way that is unlawful or illegal or in any way to the detriment of other users. You also must not allow anybody using our services provided to you in any way that is unlawful or illegal or in any way to the detriment of other users or the network.
If your tariff includes unlimited data, then this is for mobile internet services and data consumption actually on your handset. It does not include using your handset as a modem to connect other devices such as laptops and tablets – also known as “Tethering”
Virgin Media reserves the right to impose network protection controls which may reduce your speed of transmission if your data usage is excessive and not in keeping with that reasonably expected of a private individual.
For customers on the Big Data & Texts tariff excessive use over 10GB of data per calendar month will result in their maximum bandwidth being restricted to 3G speeds (384kbit/s) on our network between midday and midnight. Excludes all other PAYG tariffs. This policy will apply until the end of the calendar month, when it will be automatically removed. We reserve the right to review these usage levels from time to time. At this reduced speed, customers will still be able to browse web pages, send/receive emails, and stream audio and video all at 3G data speeds, but peer-to-peer and large file downloads/uploads will be slower than normal.
As an example, a customer would have to watch over 45 hours of high quality video before that threshold is reached. Typically far less than 0.1% of our customers will be affected on a monthly basis.

On Three pay as you go per month it is set at 81 gigs but pay monthly is truly unlimited. I would never reach 81 gig. I found this info about Three from an insider
