Samsung just announced the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition at their Samsung UNPACKED Episode 2 event in Berlin, Germany. We are expecting Samsung to release a Galaxy Note 12.2, as rumoured, but Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 edition) instead. The newly announced tablet is Samsung’s answer to a high-end tablet.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) features a gorgeous 10.1-inch WQXGA (2560×1600) Super Clear LCD with a pixel density of 299 PPI. The Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) will be released in two variants, just like the Note III. The WiFi+3G variant is equipped with a Exynos 5420 Octa-Core CPU based on ARM’s big.LITTLE technology with Quad Cortex-A15 cores clocked at 1.9GHz and Quad Cortex-A7 cores clocked at 1.3GHz and 6-Core Mali-T628 GPU running at 600MHz. The LTE variant will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Quad-Core CPU with a clock speed of 2.3GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU running at 450MHz. Both of the variants will come with 3GB of RAM, making it the world’s second mobile device to feature 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM. Powering all these components is a huge non-removable Li-Po 8,220mAh battery.

Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) with a 8 Megapixel Auto Focus rear Camera with LED Flash and Zero Shutter Lag. The device also features a 2 Megapixel front camera. Both camera sensors are capable of shooting videos at 1080p Full HD.

On the software side, the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) comes pre-installed with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the latest version of Android, and Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. All of the new S-Pen features from the Galaxy Note 3 are also present on the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition), as well.

In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy Note 3 offers WiFi 802.11ac support on top of the usual a/b/g/n, and an IR blaster is included for remote control access using Samsung’s WatchON service. NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 + LE are included, and it’s got MHL 2.0 and is able to use a standard MHL connector. Its got all the usual sensors as well, which include: Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Geo-magnetic and RGB sensor.

Dimension-wise, the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) is 243.1 X 171.4 X 7.9mm and weighs 535g. The Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) comes in 3 storage options: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. The storage is also expandable via a MicroSD Slot. The device is comes in two different colour variants, Jet Black and Classic White. The tablet will be offered globally and will be available starting from Q3, 2013.

Indeed.

Highlights:

3GB RAM
2.3GHz S800 CPU/1.9GHz Exynos 5420 Octa
8200mAh battery
10.1-inch WQXGA (2560×1600) display
and a 8MP Camera with LED flash

Has to be the most powerful and feature packed Android tablet around, now put that together with the great wealth of Educational content amongst other things found in Samsung Hub, and you have a hell of a device, one of the few that can challenge Apple's iPad, along with the Amazon Kindle Fire HD.

Another brilliant ad by Samsung
Samsung's new ad knocks competitors' tablets

Phonearena

To be fair, I haven't seen a better range of Android tablets, the Note10.1 2014 and NotePRO series seem to be the best Android tablets around in terms of Top Hardware, Software optimized especially for them, Software package, Productivity tools etc.., Samsung seem to have nailed it with this series, this is a major issue for fellow Android tablet makers who still seem to be trying to find their feet in the industry.
