HTC was dealt a massive blow today after a court ruled that the HTC One Mini infringed one of Nokia’s patents and shouldn’t be sold in the UK. From December 6th, the Taiwanese phone maker will effectively banned from stocking the handset in the region.

Nokia requested an injunction on October 30 over European Patent number 0998024, which allegedly cover a wide number of HTC handsets that use Broadcom BCM4239, BCM4330, BCM4334, and Qualcomm WR1605 chips. The court agreed that some, but not all of these chips infringed the patents. Affected devices include the HTC One, One Mini, One Max, HTC 8S and Desire 601.

HTC One Mini was still for sale online today at Carphone and Phones4U. Hmmm I wonder if Nokia/Microsoft (sorry) going to become the next bully like Apple??

As of Friday the HTC One Mini will be recalled in all O2 stores and removed from the website and telesales. Could this be the begining of the end for HTC ?

Not necessarily. UK represents what % of their sales income?

As we all know just like Blackberry HTC are not having the best of years in making money in fact 2013 is so far their poorest financial year to date and there was a possible take over from Lenovo mentioned a few months ago. HTC have a decent customer base in the UK which sadly is decreasing by the day and if the One Mini has been banned in the UK who knows other countries may follow suit and if their flagship was to get banned aswell then the future is looking very bleak if it isn't already for them.

It just really sad how some people would like to see companies like HTC go to the wall just because they support a different brand.

I am happy I already have the One. Stunning piece of equipment. Maybe because of Nokia technology.

It will be a shame if HTC were to go under or be re-branded as they are the only other brand that I would use the products they have released over the years have been amazing everything from the original Desire to this years flagship, Android and Google owe a lot to HTC as if it wasn't for HTC Android may not be as big as it is today.
