Its going to be extremely difficult for Microsoft to make a name for themselves as a smartphone manufacturer.

Their best bet is to continue with the good hardware design and push imaging even further if their software allows.. we will have to wait and see how this pans out.

The worst case scenario is if they start loosing key engineering people.. but if they can retain their A grade team it will be fine.

Buying a Microsoft phone just doesn't sound cool. Microsoft is such an 80's name.

I'd keep Nokia as the name.

Well, for whatever this is worth

Nokia to re-enter the smartphone business?

"With the recent launch of HERE Maps for Android, and the Z Launcher for Google's open source OS, a piano doesn't have to drop on our heads for us to realize that the next wave of Nokia phones to be actually made by Nokia, will feature Android. This is the direction that many wanted Nokia to take all along."

I don't know how they're going to get their name back, but I'm just one of those excited for a real Android Nokia!

So the re-branding is well under away at my O2 store, notice the Microsoft text at the top it used to say Nokia. We've already had a few customers who didn't know about the takeover looking a bit confused and dismayed that Nokia is no more.

I hope they fail in their smartphone venture. They ruined Nokia via Elop, they planted him in so they could commence their evil plan of taking over the company and their creations. That's why I'm very happy that the old team, the real Nokia team, the one who will stand for the Nokia brand, will be back with Android. Hopefully that happens.

I do hope that Microsoft rots away. Shame on Nokia for not doing a better job in improving. It's such a shame they were too slow with Symbian. Oh well, when I'll have a job I'll buy some legendary Nokias and just stash it somewhere..

I'm really not in the least bit fussed what name is on a phone I have never been just loyal to one single brand life's boring that way. Yes it's sad Nokia name is gone but if Microsoft do produce decent phones in the future with the existing Nokia team then I really couldn't give a stuff what name it says on the front or back. If it was Huawei or ZTE producing incredible products that everyone wanted to buy would it matter about the name? Not to me but that's just my opinion but as usual someone on here is bound to shout at me
