^^^

I think you have to contact the mods, this thread is still not sticky while the older 2016 is still sticky !! I've contacted them but they seem too busy for such manners... I guess we might need more moderators.

Hey guyz. I got two updates thanks to the source.
Sony will continue to use the same colour for front and back of the phones unlike Samsung and Apple to name a few. That is XR5

The second part:apparently Sony are trying to cram all the tech from the RX100 IV into a smartphone the only difference will be the sensor size as that is due to remain the same as previous flagship.

Chances are this will be ready for IFA 2018 but who knows it could surprise us all at MWC2018 but that is very unlikely. XR3-XR4

Maybe MediaTek's chipset has no good offering come in time of 18H1 (P40 successor to P20) , it make Sony to gamble all in one basket to Qualcomm with already obsoleted processor, recently announced of SD636.

Sony needed to delivery of full capable hardware BIONZ chip for Xperia, before we can officially talk about Pixel Multi Shift. Only rely on Qualcomm's ISP will keep this two to three years away at minimum.

Xperia L1 / R1 kinda PS4 controller thing, at first I feel bad that Sony step into losses territory yet it force to quit when compete with Chinese vendors few years before, but recently market research says that India's smartphone market become No.2 already surpassed US in sales volume. Now I understand why Sony give another chances to try in low-end market, company analysis team did outstanding job, I would guess.

Reportedly A75 integrated with SDM845 make me somewhat disappointment about Qualcomm that they to keep rely on standard set of ARM Cortex, maybe lost their mind after breeding money in series of anti-trust fine around the world.

First of all, I think it is high time someone needs to start 2018 thread.
Senior members just need to step up and express their will to run the thread.

Second, I think snapdragon 835 is a disappointing SoC for me not for it's using the vanila A75 core but for it's not using A55 core. 80% of android apps use the smaller core and I would've liked it if the cores apps use most of the time are being upgraded. GPU going to be very good - with brand new architect. qualcomm already has the best mobile gpu in the market so worries there.

I hope the camera quality of the next super flagship is super awesome. Better image processing is my number 1 wish for sony phones.

I already voted for josephnero couple of days ago.

Sony mobile lost money during the quarter XZP went into sale. Mobile division is the only division in sony family to lose money this quarter. This is a bad sign. If their much hyped flagship phone failed to attract fans/consumers during the release period then I'm afraid with their underwhelming XZ1 flagship the woes going to continue unless XA1 plus pick up sales.

HTC is winning their lost customer back with excellent U11 ( despite having ugly design, imo, and no headphone jack). I think their excellent camera do the magic for them. The question is - Will Sony able to win back their customer who went to other brand next year with their new design and (hopefully) a great camera.
