In the box you get:

o gameboard
o Instruction manual in English, French, Greek, German, Hungarian, Italian ,Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish
o Warranty information

Taking the gameboard out of the box I was struck by how small it was as I was expecting something the size of a PS2 or Gamecube controller. On the left is a control pad which has 8 direction of movement (up, up right, right, down right, down, down left, left, up left) and on the right are four coloured buttons. Once attached the gameboard can control the phone in normal operations by using the control pad to navigate the menus and the A (or D) key to select and the C key to return.

As you can see underneath there is a short cable that is stored in a groove with the connector that attaches to the phone at the end of it, and which itself is stored by plugging into the connector built into the gameboard.

This connector on the gameboard allows the phone to be charged while using the gameboard, or a handfree to be used or
any other accessory.

The Z600 itself fits snuggly into the cradle of the gameboard and the connector attaches easily and the message "Game controller attached" is displayed on the phone confirming a good connection.

A new menu can be found in the connectivity, accessories menu called Game controller which has the following options:

o Select Profile
o Rename Profile
o Remap Key
o Startup Query
o Test Menu
o Profile Rest

There are 4 profiles available and you can customise the key mapping in each profile. The startup query menu item allows you to define whether to start directly using the last profile or query which profile to use when the gameboard is attached. The test menu allows you to press buttons on the gameboard and it displays which button has been pressed.

Finally, and this will be good news to all the T610 owners out there, I tested it with my T610 which has firmware R3C002 and it worked perfectly.

In usability tests I played VRally2 that comes in the Z600 and found it quite responsive for controlling the car steering but as I am not really a game player I gave it to the kids to try out and they loved it. Good job it doesn't work on their T310 and T300! When connected these phones display a message saying "not supported" although the accessory menu is there but none of the buttons or control pad work unfortunately.

Cost: £29.99

who knows if there is a plan to release a successor of EGB-10 gameboard?
what about the compatibility with new fast port connector?

Any chance of this EGB-10 being compatible with an O2 S700i?

with more new and better games coming out for mobiles, it's about time to release a succesor i think for the new fastport connectors. but don't think SE is doing that anytime soon, seeing as they're changing the connector to the side in the new phones.

So there are no firmware issues then? That was my main concern.
