the Sharp GX-30 review is now available at MobileBurn

for the wappers...

Conclusion

Our GX30 was from Vodafone Germany, and was running firmware revision A02-006-0138-GX30.

For a handset that lists for about 600 Euros without a contract, there are a lot of things that are not included. To make full use of your GX30, you will need to shell out extra money for a memory card, Sharp's stereo headset, and a memory card reader. When you consider some of the other omissions in terms of features, like lack of voice dialing and a speakerphone, and the poor reception (on 1900Mhz, at least), the GX30's multimedia capabilities are the only things that really make it attractive.

But they do still make it attractive. No other GSM handset on the market today offers a megapixel camera and a stereo MP3 player with expandable storage. And while the Bluetooth system is severely limited, it is better than having no Bluetooth at all - and what functions it does support, work well. So the GX30 still eeks out a "Recommended" rating because of this extra functionality. It is not what I consider a particular good value for the money, however. But if the money is not an issue to you, you'll probably enjoy some of the GX30's cool features.

Recommended
Pros: Superb display, SD slot, good camera, MP3 player, Bluetooth
Cons: Limited Bluetooth, poor 1900Mhz reception, no voice dial, no speakerphone
