I wont be purchasing, and never will be... But, I did expect more from the iPhone 5. What exactly? I dont know, just more.
And I love when Apple claims the worlds this, the worlds that....

I think you hit it on the nose! WHAT to expect?
LTE, larger screens, thinness, its all been done before this iPhone so what is there to change or bring?!!

1. Keep the camera MP and 5 element glass (something that is innovation, nobody has done this and quality pics) even slimming device. Let's increase the lens strenght while we're at it since we're making it level with the rest of the device laying flat on any surface (Sapphire lens).
2. LTE ... we have to play here - BUT lets allow battery life to be useful and have people hunt around for a charging port every 4.5hrs like they did when hunting for a WiFi connection in the days of War-driving. I call this an inno-vation of thought = consideration!
3. The ability to work with ANY let alone 20 carriers to create a better VOICE codec & infrastructure to be implemented; something I expected of Nokia, Ericsson, Siemens, Motorola, Qualcomm, as they ALL built the infrastructure for the past 20-30yrs (give or take a few). THEY should be ashamed that a relatively new entrant had the balls to do this!
4. Charge connector calling it Lightning all sounds very frightening ... Galileo, Galileo, Galileo, Galileo ... Magnificooooo.
yeah gotta admit that was FRAK'IN STUPID!! Lameoooo. I want to smack somebody in Apple for the 2 hours of horrible Queen singing I heard in IT yesterday afternoon (EST zone); yes I work in IT.
5. Oh wait ... using a standard security API set so that business and applications can adhere to Innovation or evolution of innovation done by the likes of RIM; they still have a long way to go with security like RIM does but so does every other OS. Android still doesn't have a unified security API set - each manufacturer has to create their own EVEN in JB.

I really think a lot of people's hatred for Apple's PC products, marketing to sustain their pricing has come full circle to their smartphone/tablet products.

Etaab,

NFC Daily with your girlfriend. Although very beneficial to you daily, how is it REALLY more efficient than sending a pic via MMS/Email/Bluetooth?!
- you engage with NFC but it hands off to BT/WLAN right?
- MMS/Email you don't have to engage if one of you are off in a rush to work or to meet friends it can still be sent; what if you have to wait for her to get home before you go out?
(to me in that situation NFC = ball+chain).

Are you black? Not being racist but felt you just freestyled. Specially "Galileo, Galileo, Galileo, Galileo ... Magnificooooo.
yeah gotta admit that was FRAK'IN STUPID!! Lameoooo"

Anyway! Understand the reason why are we having a debate if iPhone 5 is really good or let's say past Apple products.

When iPhone was first launched Android devices use to suck balls. iPhone was truly a magnificent device. Why? Because it showed us the future of smartphone. There was no innovation truly speaking. At least from my side. At that point I was using Windows Mobile and it did everything what iPhone could do but the interface which is software, was brilliant. If you call that innovation then alright I'll give you on that.

My point is, now the Android is far more ahead than iOS. Even the Android devices are ahead. People are using NFC. I haven't used Bluetooth for years now. Cloud computing. That's the best. I use Dropbox to share files so I don't have to wait and waste even my 5 seconds. That person can download anytime he wants it. Look at Samsung, HTC, Sony, LG, Moto you think they really feel the need to compete with iPhone anymore? They having been making huge screen which iPhone lacked. They have been using their own technology respectively in order to give a better experience to the consumers. Like LG & Sony using sensor on lens technology. But all this is alright.

If you want to pick up these things which really don't matter much then great, iPhone 5 is the best smartphone and the most innovative product, but think about it mate? When I said this last line even you know it's not true, why? You know the answer.

Now I'll tell you, why I hate Apple and I do but I use to love Apple until Android got at its best.

Yes I'm black ... and trust me I did NOT freestyle the "galileo" I actually just re-iterated from a Macrumors thread where other Apple fans felt was assinine.

To me Android IS difficult to use and I did try 3 of them. Of them all using Gingerbread; or Galaxy Nexus on ICS/JB ... no simple task was the same in GB:
switching apps in GB varied across devices,
choosing settings for ActiveSync, again in different locations
Setting up email again varied across devices = same thing in ICS and JB; WHY!?
Application disconnects: Why can't I use the official Cisco AnyConnect on say an Xperia Arc when I can on GNexus? Why is there very few apps that are clear winners at what they do with the rest following suite to bring themselves up to par? (AD applications, File Browser apps - so many ridiculous features listed its puzzling and the voting/comments in Play Store is all over the damn map).

ICS:
Why so many messed up resolutions to cause variances of end user experiences?
(800x640, 960x864, 720P; sorry if I got the resolutions wrong but you get what I mean I hope. This affects how some applications look - I need light prescription glasses to see clearly, not properly but clearly to read close/far). I'm no longer a yute like when I joined these boards.

Android:
Why is Maps, Latitude, and all those other Google mapping services so separate? Really why not just unify them and simplify the controls?
Chrome ... again why did this not show up with GB - shame on Google not to bring this as the default browser for all manufacturers - that itself was another annoying experience without Chrome.
Why did it take Google (the kings of internet search and blogging) to figure out a proper application comment/voting system that is easy to decipher until ICS?!
If I wanted the unification that ICS/JB brought I have to waste so much time Google searching finding just the right Cymogen mod hack for my particular SGS II/Xperia Arc/Galaxy Nexus (even variances on HSPA based models) in order for me to experience the improvements or wait months for the official Google+Provider sanctioned update. But wait ... if I purchased it unlocked from Europe, I have to be careful I find one that is available for where I live in Canada. But what if that model is not sold here?! Arrgh!!

The first video begins a bit pathetic, trying to APPEASE an iOS user using words/phrases "It just works" (a classic overplayed Apple cliche with their PCs), "I own several apple products", and I highly doubt his first smartphone was an Android device - if anyone on these boards is over 24 and has not lived in a shed more than likely they've used RIM, S60/UIQ or WMobile.

WMobile was very configurable in its day ... the original iPhone innovation was multi-touch display with incredible accuracy ... NOTHING was close and you know it. The presentation was the real killer - the audacity to show it off, and have people WAIT 6 damn months before they can purchase it lol priceless.

You haven't used Bluetooth for wireless transmission, wireless headsets/speakers, or synching at ALL?! When you sync your Android using NFC are you still touching the two NFC contacts less than 5cm away or do you walk away while the file is being transfered? I mean ACTUALLY still touching to complete the transfer or just initiate the transfer and disconnect the physical touch - that my friend is engaging Bluetooth or WiFi (BT/WLAN) to complete the actual transfer - if not you'd be almost holding hands using NFC exclusively as its data transfer speed is slow for large files like a 600kb picture.
NFC: (424 kbit/s max data transfer, 20cm max distance most implementations are less than half that distance).

For me I no longer have time to fiddle, configure, tweak or experiment with my smartphone - yes I've dumbed down my experience. I work in IT roughly 10-12hrs a day with a small team of 6 other gentleman supporting 300+users in the office Mon-Fri (sometimes on weekends or after hours for support; its rotated amongst us weekly), along with over 3000 users and other IT reps globally! We have access at corporate that others do not. AD, Exchange/Outlook, 2008R2 Server, FTP, VPN, WLAN, AirWatch MDM solution ... Soon SharePoint and K2 Workflow. My time I used to enjoy teaking and fiddling just to do simplistic tasks I've listed above is used with my friends or my son - more than ever now that I'm single and he's just becoming a man at 14. Should my iPhone break or get stolen I'm more inclined to get another one, activate it my settings are all there in a matter of minutes, my applications and the settings within them (no more re-configuring VPN, ADMobile app which uses my admin credentials with complex password I hate to type: 24characters long and non language or leet implementation. Google promises this but in practice if I choose another device or the same does NOT work as advertised. You have to retype in your ActiveSync settings - heaven forbid you choose a new device because settings are similar NOT the same; again the non-unified Google API for security is at fault here.

I WANT to own the Xperia TX or V.
I love the design, I love Sony's ecosystem for media ... BUT its Android at the core that is driving me insane! There comes a time where you want to enjoy a those few moments in life, not trying to plan it out each & every step - gotta pick those goals not each battle. There comes a time when you realize technology is just a frame for the window you're after and to see through it all to use what you see, not meddle so much with the frame (its size, colour, dimensions, window pane colour etc etc); just give me a clear window.

the MAJOR key thing to realize just why Apple keeps selling so many iPhones more each iteration besides the lack of greatest specs is the global market. recall back in S60/UIQ/WMobile heyday?! Recall that for a moment long and hard. How many smartphone users existed?! Seriously? When you realize that demographic and just how easily users are switching regardless of platform is not just the technology or the GUI but the EASE of use (ICS/JB included to a point vs GB I'll admit that)!! users in their 40s are loving smartphones yet just 5-7yrs ago they hated it and preferred the flip-phones.

Bring me Google Glasses with a slightly less intrusive/obvious camera and NOW we'll talk!! I'll be all up in that like a hobo on rice!

PS: Brothas don't really like Queen or that style of Rock'n'roll not where I'm from. Hated & still do hate the Rocky Horror Picture show whatever its called.

Agreed. I really hope iOS 6 or IP5 is a failure, honest I do ... I feel Apple engineers and developers are getting waay too complacent even though build quality is incredible. This way Android, WP8 and even BB10 will push them to advance.

I haven't used BT for years either I don't use the headsets anyway. NFC is a great feature. I wonder is Apple has increased the battery size?? I am looking forward to Windows Phone 8,iPhone is just over rated. Have been there worn the t shirt and never again.
